A storm is brewing in Casualty as the BBC One medical drama prepares to launch it’s next series – and there’s a lot to expect.

The previous boxset, titled Breaking Point, ended with Tariq (Manpreet Bachu) and Rida (Sarah Seggari) by Rash’s (Neet Mohan) bedside after he attempted to end his life.

Rash’s arc throughout the entire series had been dramatic and very emotional.

The beloved face spiralled in the aftermath of his father’s death and started to believe there wasn’t a way out of the pain he had been experiencing.

Fortunately, Tariq arrived at Rash’s house in the nick of time. He found his cousin on the floor and called 999, with Iain (Mike Stevenson) then rushing his friend to Holby City Hospital.

‘I guess there’s always some pressure but I was also really excited to tell the story because I think the show’s in such a good place and it’s telling such interesting stories’, Neet Mohan previously told us discussing how he felt to be at the centre of such a powerful plot.

‘I had hoped and believed that it would be told in a really interesting way and that we could shine a light on the real NHS and what people are going through, not just in the NHS but in general, which the show does so well. So importantly, what many medical staff are feeling and the pressures they’re under.

‘I think particularly now it felt like a really important story to tell. I feel really honoured to be able to tell it through Rash and I think having someone like Rash, we’ve seen him travel quite a journey, having someone like him at the forefront of this was a really interesting way for the show to tell the story at this particular time.’

The new series of Casualty is titled Storm Damage, a name we need to take literally and figuratively, due to the fact the opening episode centres around the ED staff battling their way through a massive storm.

During the trailer to promote the boxset, we’re able to discover a strong focus over the next 12 weeks will be on Cam (Barney Walsh), who faces a traumatic shift alongside Siobhan (Melanie Hill).

Elsewhere, we’ve got to talk about Iain (Mike Stevenson), will he ever stop putting himself in dangerous situations?

The stakes are higher than ever before when it comes to Iain, who has been in a somewhat confusing relationship with Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) for a while.

The one thing Iain has always wanted in his life is a family and when it comes to Faith – she brings Iain the perfect set up in the form of already having children herself.

But with Iain seen getting in a fight in the trailer, as well as diving into a lake to save a man trapped in a car, will he ever get the happy ending he’s so desperately craved?

Despite the spotlight being on other characters this series, we also catch up with Rash as he settles back into life at work as well as Jacob (Charles Venn). A few weeks ago, he became a grandfather to a little baby called Carter but is struggling to juggle caring for the little tot and his role as a paramedic.

Can he find a healthy balance, and maybe his son Blake along the way?

Storm Damage will also introduce us to some new faces in the ED. There’s Sophia Peters, played by EastEnders’ Kellie Shirley as well as Jamie Cleveland, portrayed by Emmerdale’s Ryan Hawley.
