Netflix smash Stranger Things has been confirmed to be returning for a second series.
The show’s return was announced by the streaming service, who put fans of the show out of their misery by revealing the good news on Twitter.
They said simply: ‘The adventure continues.’
The teaser for the next series gave little away about what we can expect – but did offer a few cryptic clues including ‘The Pumpkin Patch’ and ‘The Poliwog’ – sparking speculation that they could be new episode titles.
It also revealed that the second series will be released in 2017.
While series two of the show had seemed a certainty off the back of recent comments made by creators The Duffer Brothers, this announcement is the first time that Netflix have officially confirmed its return.
The brothers recently confirmed that they had a plan in place for series two – which would largely be inspired by the eerie events of season one.
‘Season one actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it’s a really short period of time,’ Matt Duffer said.
‘So part of what we want to do with hypothetical season two is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened.’
They also promised ‘justice for Barb’ – in honour of the hugely popular character played by Shannon Purser, whose fate seems to be largely ignored by the townspeople.
