A 3D tribute to the blue bomber!
Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch is a great description of this retro-styled first-person shooter. Using the old Doom engine as a base, become your favorite Megaman character, and get blasting.
Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch is a multiplayer online shooter, that perfectly recreates the 8-bit world of early Mega Man, in bright 3D environments. Controls are configurable, but essentially this is a mouse and keyboard game. It's also really fast! Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch will see you zipping around dodging and strafing around other lightning fast players.
There seem to be few tactics involved in Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch; it's 3D shooting at it's most basic. However, it's fast and fun, and great for fans of the series. The aim of the game is simply getting the most kills, or 'Frags', in typical death match style. There are lots of levels to play, and tons of powerups and weapons to pick up along the way. There are 'Robot Masters' from Mega Man 1 to 6, so there's sure to be characters you know in Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch.
Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch is strictly for fans of the series and those who like old school FPS gameplay. It's neither subtle or gory like many of today's shooters, and the graphics might be a turn off to anybody who didn't grow up in the early days of video games.
As a remedy for testosterone-filled macho multiplayer games like Medal of Honor, Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch is fantastic. Fans will love it, and it's easy enough to play that you don't need to be an expert to pick it up.

Not the best original review, no offense..
MoreOf course the original configuration isn't great, it's made for a port of the Doom engine. And as for it being simple, if it's anything like Doom it's deathmatch isn't simple, at least not when you have a slight idea of what's going on in the game. CoD and the like promote camp, that doesn't sound too testorone-filled to me.
Pros:
Brings Megaman fans to Doom-like games (hopefully)
All the pros Doom has
Well thought out and done .wad, even for an alpha
Weapons can be used with single-player .wads (in case any new Doom players didn't know)
Cons:
Few people play it
A single-player mode would be nice too
I'm not that much of a Mega Man fan
