I Learned that “Your One True Love is Yourself” the Hard Way

In May of last year, I published an essay to Mindfully titled “My Journey from Heartbreak to Wholeness” in which I recount how I recovered myself and my life after divorce. In the essay, I share a vision I had while at a park, atop a hill, near my home:

“Standing there, I’m plugged in and the revelations come effortlessly. It’s where I learned that rebuilding my life would take time. I had a vision upon that hill one day. It was a timeline of how my life would unfold.

First, I would pull myself together, get stronger, and heal. Then, I would help my children through. Put on my oxygen mask, and then help them. Once we were all on steady ground, I would focus on my career, which I had sidelined to stay home and care for my kids.
