Mario Aquilina
After reading for a BA (Hons) in English and an MA in English from the University of Malta, Mario Aquilina was awarded a PhD in English Studies by the University of Durham, UK, in 2013. He is a lecturer at the English Department and the Centre for English Language Proficiency at the University of Malta. His teaching profile includes: The Styles of Style; Electronic Literature; Writing Skills in English; Reflective Writing; Proofreading and Copyediting; Writing for the Media; Creative Research; Applied Theory; Style and Rhetoric; and Style in the Media. He is also coordinator of the Taught MA in English at the Department of English and Third Year tutor within the same department.
Aquilina has given papers in various international conferences and symposia on subjects such as literary theory and digital games; the theoretical implications of the notion of insularity; electronic literature; the motif of the double; the short stories of Jorge Luis Borges; Fredric Jameson’s theory of style; style in digital poetry; and style in the work of Maurice Blanchot. His current research is focused on electronic literature and the notion of style in its various guises and applications.
