The panels at the Opening Ceremony Stage explored the powerful intersection of connectivity and security.
Minister Inga Berzina, Viedās administrācijas un reģionālās attīstības ministrija, highlighted Latvia’s commitment to digital transformation: "Innovations, connectivity, digital environment, digital skills, and the wide use of AI and quantum technology are among the top priorities of our national and industrial strategies." While Minister Kaspars Briškens, Satiksmes ministrija / Ministry of Transport , was pleased to announce that “Already today, 5G coverage in Latvia has reached 75% of our population. It’s up from 53% just one year ago.”
Panelists from "Connected Forces: The Integration of Mobile Connectivity into Defensive Operations and Strategies" emphasized the defense sector's role in pioneering new applications of mobile connectivity and discussed potential future partnerships, considering the specific needs of the industry.
As Ingmārs Pūķis, VP of LMT Innovations, noted, "Many operators still perceive 5G as just a broadband device," but defense organizations were among the first to drive innovation by exploring industrial applications of 5G technology.
Whereas Evija Sīpola, Head of Communication and Information Systems for the National Armed Forces of Latvia, emphasized that "Who owns information first controls the battlefield," pointing out that speed in connectivity is the King for Armed Forces.
