Lending, blending and advising Lending: The vast majority of our financing is through loans, but we also offer guarantees, microfinance, equity investment, etc. Blending: Our support helps us unlock financing from other sources, particularly from the EU budget. This is blended together to form the full financing package. Advising: Lack of finance is often only one barrier to investment. We can help with administrative and project management capacity which facilitates investment implementation.

The EIB Advisory’s Space Finance Lab has received the Global Finance “Best Financial Innovation Labs” award for 2024. The lab is the first of its kind with a dedicated thematic focus on advancing European strategic autonomy in the space sector. Andrew’s leadership will focus on strengthening the EIB Group's international partnerships, ensuring we continue to support EU priorities for development and external action and to play a vital role in addressing global challenges. 🔹 Oliver Russmann joins the EIB Group as Chief Financial Controller, bringing a wealth of experience from Citi. In this role, he will be responsible for advancing transparency and streamlining financial reporting processes. Latvia faces a serious shortage of affordable and sustainable housing, with one of the smallest social housing stocks among OECD - OCDE countries. We join forces with the Latvian Ministry of Finance and the Latvian State Real Estate Company to address key challenges, such as 🏚 poor housing quality ⛔ overcrowding 📉 limited mortgage access ⬇ low market activity. Our Advisory Services will help drive implementation of policies to ease the housing squeeze in Latvia, supporting the development of up to 2,260 affordable and energy-efficient apartments for young professionals and their families. Sustainable and affordable housing is a priority for us. Over the past five years, we have lent around €9.4 billion to support the sector. In Spain, we are supporting the first centre for interdisciplinary and applied immunology research, expected to become a benchmark in its field in Europe. The EIB will lend €80 million to finance the construction and launch of a research centre established by “Fundación ”la Caixa”. Construction of the first module of the CaixaResearch Institute should be complete by 2025, allowing the first research groups to move in. 3 key takeaways about the Institute 👇 1️⃣ It aims to become a leading European centre for immunological research, focusing on autoimmune, neurological, oncological, metabolic, and infectious diseases, while attracting international scientists. 2️⃣ It will cover over 20,000 m², host more than 500 personnel, and foster collaboration with the scientific community to boost healthcare innovation and competitiveness in the EU. 3️⃣ It will be designed with high energy efficiency standards, and integrated into Sierra de Collserola Park, and connected to the CosmoCaixa Science Museum.
