ISC are delighted to have started works at the CLdN Brocklebank Terminal at the Port of Liverpool. These works are the start of a multimillion-pound investment and are part of CLdN’s plans to increase capacity on its Liverpool - Dublin route.   The infrastructure upgrades at the terminal will improve the use of space and enhance the flow of cargo movements, while a new gate set-up, improved drivers’ facilities and a new terminal operating system will increase efficiency and lead to an improved customer experience for dropping off and picking up cargo. The enhancements to the quayside will also facilitate the use of the terminal by larger, more environmentally friendly ships.   Commenting on the investment Gary Walker, Chief Operating Officer of CLdN RoRo, said: “These upgrades are part of the CLdN group strategy of investing in its UK port infrastructure and further reducing the carbon footprint of its operations. CLdN is a leading provider of freight services across the Irish Sea and this investment will further improve our service to customers.”      The work for ISC includes hardstanding and obstruction removal and processing, earthworks, new drainage, water main and ducting installation, HML and trailer leg foundations, surfacing and line marking. Works will also include the construction of a new security gate complex, gatehouse and the installation of new fencing and VRS.    Works are due to be completed over the next four months.    “We’re thrilled that CLdN has chosen ISC to deliver these vital infrastructure works at Brocklebank Terminal.” said Darren Quinton, Managing Director of ISC. “With our strong track record in delivering key infrastructure projects, ISC is well positioned to complete these works, setting new industry standards for quality, innovation, and sustainability. The redevelopment of the terminal will significantly enhance its use and efficiency, showcasing our dedication to achieving excellence in every project we undertake.”    #ISC #GRS #GRSGroup #CLdN #Liverpool #Dublin #EnablingWorks #Earthworks #CivilEngineering GRS Group

CLdN places order for 10 newbuild Container Carriers CLdN today confirmed the placement of an order for 10 newbuild load-on / load-off (LoLo) container vessels with delivery as from January 2027. The large order is a decisive step by CLdN in branching out into the LoLo segment with its own Container Carrier fleet.  The newbuild ships will have a cargo capacity of 1,100 TEU and will complement CLdN’s fleet of more than thirty roll-on / roll-off (RoRo) vessels. The new ships will have outstanding fuel efficiency and an innovative open-top design to allow reduced port handling times.  Earlier this year, CLdN introduced a successful LoLo offering on its Ireland service using chartered vessels operating from its recently acquired Distriport terminal in Rotterdam. This service recently expanded with the addition of a third weekly direct sailing between Rotterdam Distriport and Dublin. The expansion into the LoLo segment is highly complementary to CLdN’s short-sea RoRo services and provides excellent operational flexibility, quick turnaround times in port and optimal sailing frequency for customers. This short lead time and high frequency product is unique in the current short sea container market, which is currently dominated by deep sea feeder carriers offering longer lead times and less frequent services. The new vessels will be purposely built by HD Hyundai Mipo in Ulsan, South Korea. Hyundai is a long-term shipbuilding partner of CLdN and is currently completing the construction of two 8,000 lane meter G9e RoRo vessels which are scheduled for delivery to CLdN in the first half of 2025.  Commenting on the order, Florent Maes, CEO of CLdN said: “This order is an important step towards realising our longer-term growth ambitions and cementing CLdN’s position as a leader in the unaccompanied short-sea freight market in Europe. Our recent entry into the LoLo segment, facilitated by the acquisition of the Distriport terminal in Rotterdam earlier in the year, has been very well received by customers and is proving highly complementary to our RoRo services.”  #cldn #loloservice

CLdN offers customers best short sea CO2 efficiency    CLdN today published its fleet emission data for 2023. CLdN’s weighted average fleet emissions were 39g CO2/tonne-km. This was 19% better than CLdN’s next-best performing short sea competitor (DFDS) and more than twice as efficient as road transport by heavy goods vehicle. This directly benefits all CLdN customers and the supply chains they serve by reducing the scope 3 emissions of their cargo.   CLdN is the leader in its sector in driving real emission reductions across its fleet through a combination of capital investment, technological innovation, fleet management and other efficiency measures.  To read the full release visit our website :  https://bit.ly/4e88NKc

Today marks the 25th anniversary of CLdN’s first service from Zeebrugge to Gothenburg. In 1999 the service was initially focused on servicing the paper industry. It has now developed into a full freight offering with four round trip sailings per week. We are able to carry all cargo types – trailers, containers, tank containers, vehicles and breakbulk cargo. CLdN’s shipping network connects customers in markets as far apart as Scandinavia, Iberia and Ireland and with a fraction of the CO2 footprint of road transport.
