Last week, we concluded our second year of partnership with KTU School of Economics and Business in our ongoing HANDS-ON project. This collaboration focuses on sustainable ship refit projects, emphasizing a circular refit approach that considers the entire lifecycle of materials used on board. This year, two student teams presented innovative and practical projects centered on defining sustainable suppliers and materials. Their goal was to explore how these materials are produced, their composition, and how they can be effectively recycled after their service life on a vessel. From forward-thinking solutions like wood wool panels - valued for their superior acoustic and thermal insulation - to strategic supplier criteria that balance efficiency, sustainability, and compliance, these projects provided us with practical, easily implementable ideas for our daily operations. Thank you to our colleagues from procurement and project management for their active engagement in this project. A special acknowledgment goes to Greta Galminė for her outstanding project leadership.
