We are excited to share the success of our 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗼𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka As part of our commitment to ecological restoration and #sustainable land management, we have planted 𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗹𝗶 𝗢𝘆𝗮, a crucial tributary of the Kelani River - 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮’𝘀 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿. This initiative will not only protect diverse #plant species but also enhance habitats and contribute to #reforestation efforts in Sri Lanka, to ensure ecological conservation and improved #biodiversity. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 𝟭. 𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱: We reintroduced native montane #forest species like 𝗚𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘂, 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗹 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗮, 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲, alongside protecting endemic species such as the 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗿𝘂𝗯 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗴. 𝟮. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Restoring the riverbank habitat will help 𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, while enhancing living conditions for native flora and fauna and creating a resilient forest corridor. 𝟯. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Our #vision includes establishing a 𝟵𝗸𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗼𝗿 along the Maskeli Oya, with 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟮,𝟲𝟱𝟬 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 already planted in the 𝗚𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, engaging local communities to drive long-term success.
