16 Royal Family Members’ Heights From Shortest To Tallest

The royal family can appear larger than life while going about their duties and attending public events, but do you know how the Windsors really measure up in height?

It's not something we usually think about when it comes to the royal Brits. In fact, it can be difficult to remember that underneath all the pomp and circumstance, they're just normal humans like the rest of us!

That's why it's so humbling to see exactly how short some of the members listed here really are — and it makes some of the others even more daunting with their surprisingly tall statures.

Think you know which royal stands higher than the rest of the family members? And which one still ranks as the most petite reigning royal? Take a look below to find out if you're right.

1. Queen Victoria

Height: 5'

The royal family's matriarch got the line started with her petite stature, and she remains the shortest reigning royal in British history.

2. The Queen Mother

Height: 5'2

Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who was married to King George VI (they were the parents of Queen Elizabeth II), places second when it comes to royal shorties.

3. Queen Elizabeth II

Height: 5'4

Queen Elizabeth II, benefited from her dad's taller stature to gain a couple extra inches on her mom.

4. Princess Beatrice

Height: 5'4

Princess Beatrice and her granny, Queen Elizabeth II, have something in common: Both clock in at 5'4. Beatrice must definitely get her genes from her grandmother in this department, because both of her parents — Prince Andrew and Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson — are taller than she is.

5. Princess Eugenie

Height: 5'5

Eugenie stands an entire inch taller than her sister, Beatrice, which still makes her shorter than both her father and her mother. Her husband, Jack Brooksbank, is 5 inches taller, standing at 5'10.

6. Meghan Markle

Height: 5'6

At her height, Meghan is significantly shorter than her husband, Prince Harry. It will be fun to see how Archie literally measures up against each of his parents.

7. Princess Anne

Height: 5'6

Princess Anne — the daughter of Queen Elizabeth — and Meghan Markle are actually the same height, which is pretty interesting considering how tall other members of Anne's family are. Of course, since the Queen is only 5'4, it's pretty clear where Anne got her height genes from.

8. Zara Phillips

Height: 5'6

Zara Phillips, daughter of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, is exactly the same height as her mother. At least that doesn't make it awkward when the two pair up! Her height also goes well with one of her favorite hobbies, horseback riding.

9. King George VI

Height: 5'9

King George VI, who gained the throne after his brother Edward tossed it aside to marry American divorcée Wallis Simpson, started the trend toward taller royals.

10. Kate Middleton

Height: 5'9

Although she's not related to the rest of the Windsors by blood, Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William, definitely still measures up.

11. Prince Charles

Height: 5'10

While he is not quite as lofty as his father, Prince Philip, Prince Charles is still quite a bit taller than his mom.

12. Princess Diana

Height: 5'10

Princess Diana infamously made herself look shorter while posing with Prince Charles during their marriage, despite the two being the exact same height.

13. Prince Andrew

Height: 6'

The recently disgraced royal Prince Andrew clocks in at 6 feet even, just like his dad. Obviously, Andrew and Charles get their height from Philip's side of the family.

14. Prince Philip

Height: 6'

Prince William and Prince Harry have both granddad Philip and their mom Diana's side of the family to thank for bringing the royals over the 6-foot mark.

15. Prince Harry

Height: 6'2

The younger of the "heir and the spare" duo measures in just a tad shorter than his big brother, William.

16. Prince William

Height: 6'3

Despite towering above his family, William won't become the tallest British king if he takes the throne — King Edward IV measured in at 6'4½ back in the 15th century.
