Caring for a Loved One

In the event that you need to take time away from work to care for a loved one, Lennox offers a variety of programs to assist you every step of the way.

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), all employees may be eligible to take up to 12 weeks of job-protected unpaid leave during any 12-month period for one or more of the following reasons:
  • Your health care provider has determined you are unable to work due to serious illness or injury.
  • To care for an immediate family member with a serious health condition or undergoing treatment.
  • Incapacity due to pregnancy or to care for your newborn child.
  • To care for your recently adopted or foster care child.
  • To care for your spouse, child or parent on the temporary disability retired list for an injury incurred while on active duty in the Armed Forces.
NOTE: Employees must be employed for one year and have worked at least 1,250 hours in the previous 12 months to be eligible. FMLA leave runs concurrently with all other forms of paid/unpaid leave.

Birthing & Maternity Leave

Eligible employees who are birthing mothers may take up to 8 consecutive weeks of paid leave if they:
  • Work at least 20 hours per week
  • Complete one month of continuous service before giving birth
NOTE: Maternity leave benefits can be used in addition to FMLA, Short-Term Disability, and all other forms of paid/unpaid leave.

Bonding Leave

Eligible employees can take up to 2 weeks of paid leave to bond with your new child.

You can use this benefit within 12 months of birth, adoption, or if you are appointed as the legal guardian of a child, regardless of your gender or marital status.

NOTE: Bonding leave can be used in addition to maternity leave.
