Visiting the Library
Researchers, PSU alumni, and other visitors are welcome at the library. We ask all visitors to sign in with library staff at the 1st floor Circulation Desk when they arrive. When you sign in you’ll be given a visitor’s day pass that allows you reentry for the rest of that day.
Current PSU students and employees use their PSU ID cards to open the turnstile gates at the library entrance. If you don’t have a current PSU ID card, staff at the Circulation Desk will open the gate for you so you can sign in as a visitor or show your visitor’s day pass.
In the hopes of fostering a scholarly and respectful environment, we ask all patrons to follow our Building Use Policy while they are visiting the library.
Borrowing Books
Visitors have the option to register for a free borrowing card at the 1st floor Circulation Desk. Borrowing cards allow you to check out items owned by the PSU Library; our interlibrary loan services and off-campus access to electronic resources are provided only to current PSU students and employees.
If you have an Alumni Membership card:
Bring your Alumni Membership Card and photo ID to the Circulation Desk. Alumni borrowing cards allow you to check out up to five items at a time for three weeks. Each item can be renewed once.
If you have an Oregon public library card:
Bring your Oregon public library card and photo ID to the Circulation Desk. Community user cards allow you to check out up to five items at a time for three weeks. Each item can be renewed once.
If you are a student or employee at a Summit library:
Bring your school ID card to the Circulation Desk. Summit visiting patron cards allow you to check out PSU-owned items directly from our library, rather than requesting them through the Summit system.
Electronic Resources
Visitors can access the library’s electronic resources like ebooks, electronic journals, and research databases while on the PSU campus. In the library, visitors can use the visitor research computer terminals in the 1st floor computer lab to access academic and other relevant websites. Unfortunately we are unable to offer printing services for visitors at this time.
