EdHeroes Network unites people and organizations to provide access to and quality of education to better the world

Info

EdHeroes is a decentralized network that unites people and organizations within education to achieve United Nations SDG 4 — quality education. EdHeroes is about connecting, communicating and speeding up education processes and projects. Our approach is based on the concept of glocality — a global vision with a strong respect for local organizations and individuals. We believe that we can’t know the educational issues of a given community better than the communities themselves, thus we partner with local organizations to address them. We are on a mission to improve the access to and the quality of education for people of all ages. We establish partnerships with community leaders and organizations to catalyze their projects, raise awareness and expand their reach with the goal of making lasting improvements to education. Ultimately, we aim to help create a generation of autonomous, capable and happy individuals.

🌟These powerful ladies became the highlight of the day! 🌟 Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Online Panel Discussion: "Preparing Students to Shape a Better Future," as part of the EdHeroes, and these ladies made the best panelists. Firstly, I deeply respect these women for dedicating their lives to developing organizations and working towards unique visions to make a difference in society. Each speaker presented a different approach to education based on their expertise, offering insights worthy of consideration I would like to briefly summarize each panelist's discussion points that I found interesting and relevant to my context: 🔹 Wendy Kopp, CEO and Co-founder of Teach For All, highlighted the importance of mindset in reshaping the education system. She addressed the challenge of dealing with adults entrenched in outdated systems and emphasized the need for adults to learn to treat students as whole people and to view themselves as learners. Wendy's remarks on developing a sense of agency and awareness in students regarding contemporary issues and systemic injustices, so they can aspire to peace and sustainability, were particularly my favorite! 🔹Suchetha Bhat (she/her), CEO of Dream A Dream, was one of my favorite speakers, especially since her points resonated with me as we both belong to the global south context. I appreciated how she counter argued the blind adoption of presumably the best global educational practices, emphasizing the need for contextualization in regions with high adversity. Her words, "equal emphasis should be on how the best practices can be contextualized in, let's say, the global south, where things are different from the global north," were particularly impactful. She also redefined social-emotional learning as creating a caring, compassionate, and non-judgmental space that enables students to explore creatively, problem-solve, and make decisions through various mediums such as sports, arts, and storytelling 🔹 Cecilia Vaca Jones, Senior Advisor to Abu Dhabi's Early Childhood Authority, Former Executive Director of the Bernard Van Leer Foundation , I admired her approach to prioritizing early years' investment for better social returns instead of economic returns. By social return, she meant developing productive and healthier human beings who can support societal development and become more conscious and aware of their environment. I loved how she used the term "healthy synapses" to summarize the vision of early childhood development programs! There were many other valuable insights and questions raised during the discussion, particularly from the moderator, but LinkedIn limits my post length, so I will leave you with these highlights 😅 Let's continue these important conversations! 💬 #Education #Globalforum #SocialEmotionalLearning #EdHeroes #LinkedInLearning

Last week Thursday and Friday, I attended the EdHeroes Global forum. It was a 24 hours + virtual conference with speakers from all over the globe 🌎 that exposed me to how I can become a change maker as an educator. A few pictures have been attached from some of my most enjoyed sessions😊, I literally enjoyed ALL! From this forum , I discovered that the journey to achieving quality education (SDG4) across the world by 2030 is still quite a long one, yet we are already in 2024🥲. I was exposed to how inclusive learning , multilingualism, intercultural communication and cultural appreciation could promote quality education in general. But here are a few learnings that stood out for me in the sessions : ➡️The cycle of learning isn’t complete until everyone plays their role. That is, the government or policy makers, teachers , parents and the students alike. ➡️ Apart from the regular school curriculum, practical strategies that help prepare students for the unknown future needs to be adopted. (teach them skills like adaptability, critical thinking). ➡️ Learning should be made effective. Teachers should use Artificial Intelligence(AI) tools to make learning fun, but there has to be a balance. They should not fully depend on it. ➡️ Students should be taught in their native language, about their cultural heritage and to appreciate other languages and cultures. ➡️ Multilingual Students would probably learn faster than their monolingual classmates, therefore multilingualism should be promoted in schools. Thank you EdHeroes for putting together such an amazing conference. I’ll leave you with the quote on slide 5. Do what you like with that information😂 Slide 8 is one of my dreams 🥹 Have a productive week ahead✨ Ps: I’m gradually loving the education space and becoming more passionate about helping others learn effectively🤗. ___________________________________________________ Seeing my post for the first time?
