ವಿಕಿಪೀಡಿಯ:Proposed deletion

ವಿಕಿಪೀಡಿಯದಿಂದ, ಇದು ಮುಕ್ತ ಹಾಗೂ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ವಿಶ್ವಕೋಶ

Proposed deletion is a process used for nominating articles for uncontroversial deletion, and deleting such articles after 7 days if no objections are raised. Its purpose is to reduce the load on the Articles for deletion process, for cases where deletable articles fail to meet the criteria for speedy deletion.

If a ({{subst:prod}}) tag is added to an article, the article will be deleted 7 days later if nobody objects. If any user objects—usually by removing the tag—then the article may be taken to Articles for Deletion for further discussion.

Articles tagged with the {{prod}} template will be checked by an administrator after seven days. if there have been no objections by other users. If the reason given is valid then the article will be deleted.

Articles that:

  • Have previously been proposed for deletion using the {{prod}} process,
  • Have previously been undeleted, or
  • Have been discussed at AfD

are not candidates for {{prod}}.

Additionally, only articles, lists, and disambiguation pages may be proposed for deletion using {{prod}}. Deletion of other pages, including redirects, should be proposed at the appropriate deletion page or tagged for speedy deletion, if applicable.

See ವರ್ಗ:Proposed deletion for the listing of all articles currently proposed for deletion. An automated summary table can be found at WP:PRODSUM.

How to nominate

[ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ]

If you think that an article is an uncontroversial candidate for deletion:

  1. Review the article's history to confirm that it has not been recently vandalized. If it was proposed for deletion using the {{prod}} process before, nominate it for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion if you think it should be deleted.
  2. Add {{subst:prod|reason}} to the top of the main article page. Tailor your reason to each individual article; generic messages are not helpful. Use an informative edit summary clearly indicating that the article has been nominated for deletion. Do not mark the edit as minor.
  3. Although not required, it is considered courteous to notify the article's creator and other significant contributors that you have proposed an article for deletion. You can use {{subst:PRODWarning|Article title}} ~~~~ for this. For your convenience, this line is generated at the end of the "prod" box after you have added it to the article.
  4. Consider adding the article to your watchlist.

Seconding a proposed deletion

[ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ]

If you agree with a proposed deletion:

  1. Consider adding a {{Prod-2}} tag to indicate your opinion. (See ವರ್ಗ:Proposed deletion-endorsed for the listing of all articles currently endorsed for proposed deletion by more than one editor.)
  2. Consider adding (or modifying) an {{Oldprodfull}} tag on the article's discussion page as documentation for others.

Contesting a proposed deletion

[ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ]

To contest and therefore prevent a proposed deletion, remove the {{Prod}} tag from the article. You are encouraged to also:

  1. explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion, either in the edit summary or on the talk page.
  2. notify the editors involved in the PROD by placing a {{Deprod}} tag on their user talk page.
  3. add or modify an {{Oldprodfull}} tag on the article's talk page, to prevent renomination under Proposed deletion.
  4. consider improving the article to address the concerns raised.

If you feel that the article should be deleted, but not without discussion, you may nominate the article for an Articles for deletion debate.

If the article has already been deleted, please follow the Deletion review process. If undeleted, add the {{Oldprod}} tag to the Discussion page.

Contested deletions: If anyone, including the article's creator, removes a {{Prod}} tag from an article for any reason, do not put it back, except when the removal is clearly not an objection to deletion (such as blanking the entire article). If the edit is not obviously vandalism, do not restore the tag, even if the tag was apparently removed in bad faith. If you still believe that the article needs to be deleted, list it on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Note:

  1. If someone replaces a proposed deletion tag with an AfD tag, this is equivalent to contesting the proposed deletion, and the PROD tag should not be restored.
  2. If someone replaces a proposed deletion tag with a speedy deletion tag (although they should simply add the speedy tag), the PROD tag may be restored, as the user obviously thinks the article should be deleted quickly without discussion.

Other deletion processes have priority over proposed deletion:

  • An article flagged for both proposed deletion and AfD should be dealt with at AfD, and the {{Prod}} tag should be removed.
  • Appropriate alternatives such as Wikipedia:Copyright problems or Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion take precedence. However, when tagging a proposed deletion candidate for speedy deletion, the proposed deletion tag should be left in place in case the speedy deletion is rejected. (Note: a rejected speedy candidate is still eligible for proposed deletion, but a rejected AfD candidate is not.)
  • Any deletion via this process which is taken to deletion review is implicitly a contested deletion, and the article may therefore be immediately restored by any administrator without discussion.
  • Any article deleted via this process and then recreated is not subject to speedy deletion under criterion G4, as recreation is a way of contesting the proposed deletion. If you feel the article should be re-deleted, list it on Articles for deletion.

Procedure for administrators

[ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ]

If you are an administrator deciding whether to delete an article that has been proposed for deletion:

  1. Check that the tag has been in place continuously for at least 7 days and no objections have been raised on the talk page.
  2. Check the article's page history and deletion log to confirm that it has never previously been proposed for deletion using the {{prod}} process, undeleted or been discussed on AfD. If it has been, it is not eligible for deletion by this process and should be kept or sent to AfD.
  3. If you decide to delete the article, provide an informative deletion reason, such as that given by the nominator, not just "expired prod". This is because once the article is deleted, the reason for the {{Prod}} is no longer visible to non-administrators. If you are using an automated script, check that it does not leave an inadequate message.
If you decide not to delete the article, consider editing it to deal with the concerns that were raised, or nominating the article for deletion on AfD. You should document that it has been contested with an {{Oldprodfull}} on the article's Talk page.

Note: To ensure independent judgment, an article should not be deleted by the same person who added the {{Prod}} tag.
