Redirect templates

[កែប្រែ]

For how to use redirect templates, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Redirect/Style guide.

It is also sometimes considered helpful to put redirects into the same categories as their targets, allowing the names of both the redirect and the target to appear in the category. For pages which should ultimately be handled by a full article, add both {{R with possibilities}} and one or more stub sorting templates, to draw attention to the needed article.

This full list mirrors Category:Redirect templates.

Note that these templates can and should be used together. For example, "Architechts" uses both {{R from misspelling}} and {{R from plural}}

In accordance with the Manual of Style (comics) guidelines, when the target article becomes too big, this redirect may be replaced with an article carved out of the target page after discussion on the target talk page.

Do not replace these redirected links with a link directly to the target page.

For more information, see Category:Redirects from alternative characters.

{{R from alternative language}}
category links talk edit

For more information, follow the category link.

{{R from alternative name}}
category links talk edit

This is a redirect from a title that is another name, a pseudonym, a nickname, or a synonym.

It leads to the title in accordance with the naming conventions for common names and can help writing. It is not necessary to replace these redirected links with a piped link.

This is a redirect from a title with a different spelling.

Pages using this link may be updated to link directly to the target page. It is not necessary to replace these redirected links with a piped link.

For more information, follow the link to Category:Redirects from alternative spellings or see this reference page.

{{R from ambiguous page}}
category links talk edit

This is a redirect from an ambiguous term to a disambiguation page. These redirects are pointed to by links that should always be disambiguated. Therefore, this template generally should never appear on pages that have "(disambiguation)" in the title.

For more information, see the category.

For more information, follow the category link.

This is a redirect from a title of an article related to a Canadian settlement, but which title has been redirected in accordance with the article naming conventions at WP:CANSTYLE.

category links talk edit

This is a redirect from a year to the decade article. Years from 1700 BC to 500 BC should redirect to the relevant decade.

For more information, follow the category link.

{{R to disambiguation page}}
category links talk edit

This is a redirect to a disambiguation page. This redirect is intended for use in links from other articles that need to refer to the disambiguation page, rather than be disambiguated. Therefore, this template generally should only appear on pages that have "(disambiguation)" in the title.

For more information, see the category page.

{{R from incomplete disambiguation}}

Lua error: expandTemplate: template "Incorrect redirect template" does not exist.

{{R with possibilities}}

When the target page becomes too large, this redirect may be replaced with an article carved out of the target page. See also Template:R to section, and when appropriate, use both together.

Related words in an article are good candidates for Wiktionary links.

Redirects from related words are not properly redirects from alternative spellings of the same word but, at the same time, they are also different from redirects from a sub-topic, since the related word is unlikely to warrant a full sub-topic in the target page.
