On 28th September 2024, WISEe had the privilege of conducting an impactful STEM training for the brilliant young women of WISER Girls and Bande Girls. Throughout the week, the girls engaged in hands-on learning, developing critical skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. At WISEe, our mission is to empower and inspire the next generation of women to lead in STEM fields. Solar Battery Replacement in Muhuru Bay, Migori County Our incredible women team of WISEe cooperative Society Ltd , recently completed the replacement of over 50 solar batteries across 18 schools in Muhuru Bay, Migori County. This is a crucial step in ensuring students continue to enjoy uninterrupted lighting, allowing them to study without power disruptions. 🔋 Why Regular Battery Checks Matter: Over time, solar batteries degrade, leading to reduced storage capacity and performance. Last month, our WISEe team had the privilege of installing solar systems at Total Rehab Children's Home in Kasarani, Nairobi Kenya, a center dedicated to supporting children with disabilities. This installation is about much more than energy—it’s about fostering a sustainable and inclusive environment for these remarkable children. Working alongside the incredible staff and the children, we’ve ensured that this vital facility now has reliable, renewable energy to power its essential services. This will help reduce energy costs and provide uninterrupted care and education for the children. Exciting news from our program launch in South Sudan! Our education program, We Share Solar, in partnership with EDC and WISEe, successfully completed the first Solar Suitcase STEM training for youth this past week. Through a dynamic collaboration, we provided 38 volunteer educators with specialized training in the solarSTEM curriculum during an intensive two-day Train the Trainer (ToT) workshop held in Juba. This initiative is part of the USAID Youth Empowerment Activity implemented by EDC, which is made possible by the generous support of the American people. Our goal is to empower South Sudanese youth with the skills and knowledge to harness solar energy, contributing to sustainable development in their communities. Driving Clean Energy Innovation in Lamu We are currently working on solar installations at Beach House, Hannah House, and Pumbao Housein Lamu, aiming to enhance energy access with robust, renewable solutions. These systems are being designed to meet the unique energy demands of these locations while minimizing reliance on the grid. Our setup includes: - High-performance solar panels, optimized for the Lamu climate to ensure maximum efficiency. - 3kVA Victron inverters, paired with Victron MPPT charge controllers to maximize energy harvest from the solar panels, ensuring efficient energy conversion and management. Advanced 48V battery storage systems, which will provide extended capacity for uninterrupted power throughout the night and during peak demand. This project is part of our ongoing commitment to driving sustainable energy solutions in off-grid areas, reducing environmental impact while ensuring reliable power for daily operations.
