Today, we celebrated #WorldMentalHealthDay in style! We had the honor of hosting one of our donors, Work Together Foundation through their Smile Together Partnership program, highlighting the remarkable progress of our Community Wellness Centers. These community-led wellness centers, established in underserved areas, offer access to affordable mental health support. Our Rafikis-community peer champions, took the spotlight, sharing their journey through Psychological First Aid (PFA) training and how they now provide essential mental health support within their communities. We also introduced the Boma App, sharing insights into its development journey, from challenges to current progress. A memorable moment was reflecting on the evolution of our partnership—from 2021 to where we stand today. Our team Bright Shitemi Mukami Munyoki Charles Kinyua and Tiffany Jasmine shared how the Work Together Foundation's support has not only transformed the communities we serve but also helped us grow in our careers and improve our mental health. A huge thank you to Work Together Foundation for your unwavering support and belief in our mission. Together, we continue building healthier, more resilient communities. 🌍 #mental360kenya #conversationssavelives #communitywellness #formnikubonganarafiki #partnershipsforimpact

Mental wellness is fundamental to both individual and organizational success. When employees struggle with their mental health, it directly affects their focus, creativity, and overall productivity. Burnout, stress, and anxiety can lead to higher absenteeism, decreased engagement, and ultimately, lower performance. By fostering a culture that embraces mental health days and encourages open dialogue around wellbeing, we can not only enhance resilience but also build a stronger, more effective workforce. Looking forward to continuing this conversation at MINDFEST 24 hosted by Chiromo Hospital Group #mentalhealthatwork #employeewellbeing #thrivingworkplace #mental360kenya #conversationssavelives

In today’s demanding work environment, prioritizing mental wellness is essential for fostering resilience and enhancing performance. Yet, Gallup’s 2020 report reveals that a staggering 76% of employees face burnout, with 63% feeling pressured to take sick leave for mental health reasons—a topic still shrouded in stigma. Why are mental health days frowned upon? 🤔 It’s time to challenge this mindset and champion a culture that values mental wellbeing. By doing so, we can create an environment where employees thrive, leading to both individual and organizational success. Let’s spark the conversation during MINDFEST 24 with our insightful panel discussion on Mental Wellness in The Workplace. SEE YOU THERE! We are excited to have contributed to the launch of the Safer Campuses campaign, a collaborative initiative between UNESCO and Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) students. This milestone event marked the commissioning of the KMTC Students Wellness Center and Gender Desk at KMTC Nairobi. Through the UNESCO 03PLUS project, great strides are being made in advancing the health and well-being of young people across KMTC campuses. The Safer Campuses campaign focuses on empowering students, staff, and stakeholders to recognize, prevent, report, and seek support for gender-based violence, to create safe, inclusive, and violence-free environments within Kenya’s higher education institutions. #saferspaces #conversationssavelives #mental360kenya

Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting a group of bright students from American University, who visited to gain insights into our work and how we run mental health programs in Kenya. During the visit, our team Charles Kinyua, Tiffany Jasmine, Ian Gitaka, Peris Wangui, Mukami Munyoki, Fred Ochieng, and Herman Omune among others shared our approaches to community engagement, program implementation, and the unique challenges and opportunities of addressing mental health in Kenya. It was an enriching exchange that highlighted the importance of global collaboration in mental health advocacy. By sharing our experiences, we hope to contribute to a broader understanding of mental health systems across different contexts and inspire future mental health leaders. #mentalhealthkenya #globalcollaboration #knowledgeexchange #mentalhealthadvocacy #conversationssavelives

Today, we are proud to mark a pivotal moment by signing an MOU with Mathare Social Justice Centre, a partnership that will bring a much-needed wellness center to Mathare. This initiative is critical, as underserved communities often face poor mental health outcomes due to factors such as low literacy, stigma, and limited access to resources, leaving many without the support they deserve. This is a challenge we cannot overlook. We are expanding our Community Wellness Centers to Mathare—safe, inclusive spaces where youth and vulnerable communities can have open conversations about mental health, access psychosocial support, and receive essential care. What sets these centers apart is that they are led by youth with lived experience, trained in psychological first aid and community mobilization. Their leadership fosters trust and understanding, creating a peer-driven environment that offers support groups, emergency response, one-on-one therapy, and referrals. Contact us at [email protected] if you wish to get involved. #mentalhealthmatters #youthresilience #communitywellnesscenters #conversationssavelives

Rafikis - Youth community peer champions are the driving force behind our interventions. We’re deeply thankful to Victor Amunya, a Rafiki from one of our Community Wellness Centres, for sharing his inspiring story. His commitment to empowering young people in his community, using football as a platform for open and honest mental health conversations, is truly remarkable. Together, we’re building safer and healthier spaces for those who need them most. Here’s what Victor had to share! #testimonialthursday #conversationssavelives #mental360kenya
