This afternoon, Amref Health Africa in Kenya, had a productive strategic meeting with Dr Deborah Mlongo Barasa - Deborah Barasa, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Health, Kenya, to discuss key areas of partnership to ensure that all Kenyans have access to quality and affordable healthcare when they need it. Our discussions centred on leveraging existing opportunities to strengthen systems for primary healthcare (#PHC), with a shared commitment to ensuring no one is left behind. Key outcomes of the meeting included the need to: 1️⃣ Develop a clear and impactful communication strategy to ensure critical health information is effectively conveyed to communities. 2️⃣ Leverage the role of Community Health Promoters (#CHPs) to enhance the dissemination of health information at the grassroots level, benefiting from their close community ties. 3️⃣ Improve maternal and newborn health outcomes through the Linda Mama programme - especially as we transition to the Social Health Authority (#SHA), reduce maternal and newborn mortality. 4️⃣ Strengthen intergovernmental collaboration with counties to ensure alignment and efficiency in implementing the health agenda. 5️⃣ Support Universal Health Coverage (#UHC) by ensuring the availability of technical advisors and exploring ways to implement this support in line with existing public health Acts. #HealthForAll #Amref4PHC Dr Ndirangu Wanjuki Anne Muthoni Gitimu Rovinnah Maureen Dr. Githinji Gitahi Dr. Sultani Matendechero ‘ndc’(K) MARY MUTHONI MURIUKI, CBS, HSC. #WorldWaterWeek may be winding down, but our commitment to driving #sanitationsolutions remains stronger than ever! Earlier this week, our AMREF and Population Services International session brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for accelerating progress toward universal access to safely managed sanitation by 2030. All participants underscored the need to break out of silos and get government sectors on board to make safe #sanitation and #hygiene a reality for the 60% of the population in Sub-Safara Africa who currently lack access.
