Last week, our Country Manager Niza M. Banda, and Masembe Chiti, Assistant Key Account Manager at ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance Company), had the pleasure of paying a courtesy call to the Honorable Eng. Peter Kapala, Minister of Fisheries and Livestock in Zambia. The discussions centered around pulling synergies through key partnerships to amplify our impact and drive sustainable growth. We highlighted on the DRIVE livestock project that has been successfully implemented in the Horn of Africa, aimed at derisking farmers affected by drought. We also discussed our active participation in the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP), which has resulted in payouts to smallholder farmers during the just ended drought period in Zambia. We expressed our willingness to collaborate with the Ministry on ongoing projects in livestock development and aquaculture. Our existing products are designed with flexibility, allowing us to customize them to meet the unique needs of various stakeholders, including farmers and pastoralists. We look forward to exploring potential synergies with the Ministry to further support and enhance the livelihoods of those in the agricultural sector. #PPPs #Partnerships #AgricultureInZambia #Resilience

This week, in partnership with Mercy Corps AgriFin we launch a new program in Tanzania dubbed, Mkulima Imara. This initiative is designed to equip farmers with essential knowledge about agricultural insurance, making it easier for them to access and manage insurance through digital systems. With Mkulima Imara, farmers can now benefit from streamlined premium payments and claims processing. The program not only focuses on insurance but also provides access to valuable services, including best agricultural practices and credit facilities. The targeted value chains include maize, paddy, and sorghum, as well as cash crops such as cotton and sunflower.
