Last week, I was in Las Vegas for the Suntory Global Spirits US Commercial Leadership Forum. It was a great opportunity to connect with the team and share my thoughts on what I truly believe we can accomplish together as #OneSuntory One Family. Las Vegas is an incredible stage for our brands and a place to experience Gemba. Gemba translates from Japanese as ‘the real place’, which includes the concept of ‘the place where value is created’ or where ‘the work gets done.’ In our business, that could be a bar or restaurant, a retail account or a distillery. So, why is Gemba important to our culture? It’s simple. It’s because we can learn so much by spending time there - visiting stores, talking to retailers, engaging with bartenders, and listening to consumers. We see firsthand how our products are being presented and perceived, and these insights are valuable for us to take action to improve and exceed consumer expectations. As a team, we discussed how important it is that we take this into account in every single thing that we do and that we constantly strive to work in service of our customers. A core theme we discussed is that in our industry, we are operating in a rapidly changing world and confronting new realities. However, this is an opportunity to act and deepen our commitment to leveraging our power of harmony as One Suntory, One Family to make us stronger and better prepared for the future. Yatte Minahare!

At Suntory, we believe in creating rich experiences for people, in harmony with nature. This is why we launched the Suntory Challenged Sports Project in 2014, dedicated to promoting the excitement of parasports across Japan. What began as part of recovery efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake has since expanded nationwide, with key initiatives such as: 🏀 Grants for young athletes through the Suntory Challenged Sports Athlete Incentive Fund, helping them develop and excel in their sports. 🎓 The Suntory Parasports Design College, where university students collaborate to spread the joy of parasports. 🚴 Wheelchair Skills Workshops, held in collaboration with health and welfare universities to promote inclusion and accessibility. As the Paralympics come to a close, we remain inspired by the incredible athletes who have pushed boundaries and redefined what’s possible. Their determination continues to reflect the Suntory spirit of “Yatte Minahare”—boldly embracing challenges and driving progress. Last month, our "Suntory Dream Match" charity event was held at Tokyo Dome with over 33,000 attendees. The event featured the "Dream All-Star Game," showcasing retired Japanese baseball legends who once thrilled baseball fans. Rooted in our value of "Giving Back to Society," this project began in response to the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that struck in 1995. Inspired by the question, "What can Suntory do to uplift the region and Japan?" this event has continued for almost 30 years with a single goal: to "inspire and give people dreams." At the venue, guests can enjoy a variety of Suntory products, including The Premium Malt's, while witnessing a one-night-only game featuring legendary Japanese baseball players. At Suntory, we're passionate about protecting water and the natural beauty that surrounds it. This World Water Week, we’re thrilled to highlight Suntory “Mizuiku” — education program for nature and water, an initiative dedicated to inspiring children to think about what each of them can do for water sustainability. Since 2004, Mizuiku has introduced over 580,000 children in Japan and beyond to the wonders of nature and the importance of water conservation. Through immersive experiences and educational activities, we empower the next generation to appreciate and safeguard our planet’s vital resources. Together, let’s continue to nurture and protect our water sources for a sustainable future! #WorldWaterWeek #Mizuiku #WaterConservation #FutureLeaders #ProtectOurPlanet #Sustainability #OneSuntory #GrowingForGood

At Suntory, we’re dedicated to cultivating exceptional global leaders through our Beyond Borders and Global Leadership Development Program (GLDP). Beyond Borders, in collaboration with Wharton Business School, brings together general managers from Suntory Group worldwide. Highlights include insightful sessions with our CEO, Tak Niinami, and engaging activities such as attending a beer and highball seminar and visiting our Hakushu distillery and water plant, where participants enjoyed a tasting hosted by Suntory's Chief Blender, Shinji Fukuyo. Similarly, the GLDP, developed with Cambridge University’s Møller Institute, spans eight months and emphasizes strategic leadership and cross-cultural collaboration. GLDP offers participants key insights from our senior executives, further enhancing their global perspectives. Both programs showcase our dedication to developing leaders who embody the One Suntory spirit and drive our future success. Thank you to all who contributed to these transformative programs, and congratulations to our 2023/2024 cohorts! #SuntoryLeadership #GlobalDevelopment #BeyondBorders #GLDP #OneSuntory

Last month in Tokyo, we took a journey with our unique event, "Shaved Ice Shop From 20 Years in the Past." When you open the door of the vending machine, you are transported back in time to 20 years ago. It wasn't just a step back in time; it was an immersive experience that highlighted our dedication to preserving our valuable resource: water. At the heart of the event was the story of our Suntory Tennensui (natural mineral water), a product of nature perfected over more than two decades. Visitors got a firsthand look at the intricate process that brings this pristine water from deep underground aquifers to them, reflecting our commitment to quality and sustainability. We believe it's not just about looking back at what we've achieved but also paving the way forward for the next 100 years.
