Software Engineer @ Renesas || Young STEAM Personality of the Year 2023, IYA || IET Future Talent Award || UKESF Scholar of the Year 2022 || BrightSparks Award 2022

This is a picture of the 7-year old Nishika, who was very timid and shy. She dreamt of becoming an astronaut like Dr Kalpana Chawla and was really interested in STEM 👩🚀. She was studious, responsible and caring. However, she was surrounded by people who told her she wasn’t good enough. Despite this, she always believed in herself. Her will and dream of making this world a better place, especially for girls, helped her overcome every hurdle that came her way. Fueled by a passion for STEM, she ventured to study a degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and make a place for herself in the technology sector. During her degree, she was intrigued by embedded systems and the power of the tiny little chips, so she decided to build a career writing firmware that enabled these chips to do the wonders 👩💻. However, one day she realised that being an engineer was amazing, but it wasn’t enough for her, she wished to become more. She wanted to share her passion with other girls and make a place for them in this male-dominated sector. So, she worked as a STEM ambassador, and an education volunteer to reach out to young girls and showcase to them that they can build a successful career in engineering and technology 💪. She then went on to win several awards for her work and contributions to engineering outreach . She still continues to work tirelessly towards her goals because her journey has just started, and she has a long way to go… So, what advice would I give to my younger self? Continue to believe in yourself, and you can be anything you want to be. You can love the colour pink, play with Barbie dolls, and still enjoy coding. To celebrate #DayOfTheGirl, the #ThisLittleGirlIsMe campaign by Inspiring Girls International and supported by Renesas Electronics aims to inspire young girls to pursue their dreams 💗.

In celebration of the International Day of the Girl today✨, we’re sharing another colleague’s story. Marta Martínez Vázquez, Sr. Staff Product Marketing Engineer at Renesas, grew up shy and insecure, always trying to fit in. Her parents gave her and her siblings the greatest gift: access to a good education. She loved school, especially STEM subjects, but when it came time to choose her career, she wasn’t sure. Marta chose Electrical Engineering, the 'trendy' choice at the time for math and physics enthusiasts. It wasn’t until she worked on her master’s thesis and later her PhD that she discovered her passion for antennas and electromagnetics. Since then, there’s been no turning back! Today Marta enjoys exploring new ideas and seeing them come to life. The support she receives from her colleagues, the emphasis on work-life balance, and the Women in Technology Employee Resource Group are all vital to her sense of belonging at Renesas. Together with Inspiring Girls International, we celebrate all the girls and women around the world and advocate for their bright and equitable future through education! 💪👩🔬 #Renesas team – Join us in inspiring the future generation by sharing your story with hashtags, #ThisLittleGirlIsMe and #RenesasTLGIM. #WomenInTech #STEM #InternationalDayOfTheGirl

Staff Quality Assurance Engineer at Renesas Electronics Corporation

In this photo, you see a little girl with big dreams, bright hopes, and a whole lot of ambition—sprinkled with a touch of stubbornness. 😊 She dreamed of a world where kindness mattered most and where her passion could make a real difference. She believed she could be anything she wanted—whether that was a ballerina, a scientist, an inventor—someone she and her family would be proud of. Even at a young age, she had a knack for STEM subjects. She was focused on her studies, always eager to learn more, and didn’t care if some people called her a “nerd”. She always had a plan, clear goals to work towards, and nothing could deter her from what she set her mind on. Of course, the road ahead wasn’t without obstacles or disappointments. But that never stopped her. Over the years, she earned scholarships, worked in research, and graduated at the top of her class—constantly pushing herself to reach new heights. When the incredible opportunity came to complete an internship abroad, at a tech company in a laboratory full of cutting-edge equipment and brilliant minds, she didn’t hesitate for a second. The following year, she moved abroad, joined the company full-time, and began her career as an engineer in the semiconductor industry. Today, she is happily married and thriving in a career she loves. She is also part of a group that encourages the development of women, providing mentorship and inspiration to the next generation of young girls who, like her, believe they can achieve anything they set their hearts on. This little girl is me. So, what advice would I give my younger self? All that hard work will be worth it and to enjoy being a child. In the end, we will achieve our goal, because I am proud of who I am and what I have achieved. #ThisLittleGirlIsMe is a campaign by Inspiring Girls International for the International #DayOfTheGirl. It aims to empower young girls by raising their aspirations and encouraging them to pursue any career they dream of, no matter the field. By sharing real stories, the campaign inspires girls to think big, break barriers, and confidently chase the future they want. I would like to nominate the following amazing Renesas Electronics women to also share their inspiring stories: Uta Surkau, Shari Begun and Nishika Chettry. :)    #ThisLittleGirlIsMe  #DayOfTheGirl  #RenesasTLGIM

    Senior Manager Channel Marketing

This is me, aged 5, dreaming of one day becoming an astronaut! Being allowed to stay up “late” to watch the news and see the shuttles launching is a vivid and happy memory from my childhood. The physical and mental requirements to become an astronaut were high and major back surgery at 16 made me realize that getting to space might not work out for me :) When it came to college, I chose to study Applied Physics and Electronics as it would open up many opportunities and also possibly the chance to still be part of the space industry. When I graduated, I started working in the Semiconductor industry and here I got, and continue to get exposure to so many amazing technologies, products, and solutions (and yes even those that make it to space) that shape the world around us. If I could whisper to that little girl, I’d tell her that there are many roads and as one may close, many more will open. So stay focused and open to change. For the International #DayOfTheGirl, the #ThisLittleGirlIsMe campaign by Inspiring Girls International supported by Renesas Electronics aims to empower and inspire young girls to think expansively and pursue their aspirations. #ThisLittleGirlIsMe #DayOfTheGirl #RenesasTLGIM

Failure Analysis Engineer at Renesas Electronics

This little girl is me, who not only was enthralled by a plethora of wonders- from IQ tests to radios and sky observatories, but every Sunday she immersed herself in the scientific section of a weekly newspaper while she was dreaming how the world would be in the future with the technological discoveries of the engineers. At the age of 18, she decided to become a physicist. Her passion for applied physics in daily life applications drove her to conduct extensive research in the field of environmental monitoring as a Ph.D. candidate and subsequently leading her to work for a global leader in the semiconductor industry that shapes a limitless future with products embedded everywhere. If I could whisper to that little girl, I would tell her that all our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them! I remain an ardent admirer of Walt Disney. For the International #DayOfTheGirl, the #ThisLittleGirlIsMe campaign by the Inspiring Girls International feat Renesas Electronics aims to empower and inspire young girls to think expansively and pursue their aspirations. #ThisLittleGirlIsMe #DayOfTheGirl  #RenesasTLGIM

What did you want to be when you grew up? 💭 To celebrate 2024 International Day of the Girl (Oct 11), we are joining #ThisLittleGirlIsMe campaign by Inspiring Girls International and would like to share some of our team members’ stories. This little girl with the cutest smile is Yuan Zhou, Renesas’ Product Engineer based in Nabern, Germany. Born in Xuzhou, China, Yuan grew up with the belief that girls and boys are equal. Her childhood dreams ranged from becoming a teacher to a geographer, but she never imagined she would one day be an engineer. With perseverance and support from her family, she pursued electronic engineering, studying in China, Ireland and UK. Today, Yuan is an engineer in Renesas’ Power Group, managing the high-volume production of Power Management Integrated Circuits for top-tier tech customers producing smartphones, tablets, and wearables. After joining the Steering Committee of Women in Technology Employee Resource Group this year, Yuan is meeting with her peers from around the world and actively promoting STEM initiatives with Renesas’ non-profit partners to inspire more girls to enter the field. As a mother of two, she is proud to be an “an engineer mum” balancing work and life with her time management skill, resilience, and ability to adapt to changes. Here is Yuan’s message to all the girls and future engineers: “Girls, don´t be afraid! I hope my story can inspire you to find your own path to success, to embrace the challenges, and to remember that the greatest chip we build are the ones we create with those we love.” 👩🔬✨ #Renesas team – Join us in inspiring the future generation by sharing your story with hashtags, #ThisLittleGirlIsMe and #RenesasTLGIM. #WomenInSTEM #Engineering #DiversityAndInclusion
