The #NX Group offers the "NX-GREEN SAF Program," an air transportation service that uses sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to help customers reduce CO₂ emissions during #freight operations. This service is available for all air transportation arranged by NX Group and is a carbon inset service that reduces CO₂ emissions in our customers' #SupplyChains. SAF is an #aviation fuel made from biomass and discarded cooking oil. It emits less CO₂ throughout its life cycle from production to combustion and is said to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. Customers participating in the program will receive a reduction certificate verified and authenticated by a third-party accreditation agency, which can be used as disclosure information required by environmental initiatives such as the TCFD and CDP. In Japan, a subsidy program was launched in August, under which the Tokyo Metropolitan Government supports part of the costs incurred when shippers use SAF for air cargo transportation through select cargo agents; Nippon Express is one such cargo agent for this program. We are also participating in a demonstration experiment of Scope 3 environmental value transaction at Narita Airport to promote the use of SAF. Expanding the use of SAF is crucial to promote #decarbonization in the aviation sector and requires measures throughout the supply chain. - News Release - Nippon Express (Deutschland), a group company of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, has acquired Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification for temporary storage and air/ocean freight forwarding operations for pharmaceutical products at its Budapest Branch’s warehouse. Hungary hosts thriving chemical and pharmaceutical industries and a concentration of sites for manufacturing and developing biosimilars. Business growth in pharmaceutical-related sectors is expected to drive future increases in demand for high-quality pharmaceutical logistics. The Budapest Branch that recently acquired GDP certification is located next to Liszt Ferenc International Airport, making it well suited to handle air freight transport, and boasts a new temperature-controlled facility offering storage in two temperature zones: 2°C to 8°C (refrigerated) and 15°C to 25°C (constant temperature). NX Canada has participated again in this year's Japan Festival, following last year's appearance. The Japan Festival is an outdoor event that was launched to deepen ties between Canada and Japan. This year's festival was held from August 17th through the 18th in Mississauga, Canada. This year, NX Canada set up a water dispenser to serve free drinking water to visitors. Visitors were able to enjoy chatting with NX Canada's staff members while cooling off. - News Release - NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS on August 23 acquired a stake in Spiral, which provides non-SLAM (*1) control systems that enable autonomous indoor drone navigation, as an investment by the NX Global Innovation Fund. -Profile of Spiral Spiral is a startup company developing the MarkFlex®︎Air (*2) autonomous drone flight control system specialized for indoor use. While ordinary drones use GPS and sensors to navigate while referring to a pre-made map of a facility, drones equipped with Spiral's technology can navigate in areas with no radio reception by following routes input via dedicated software and recognizing QR codes on walls. Spiral is working to utilize this technology for periodic inspections at tunnel construction sites and dam inspection corridors in pursuit of its mission to “become the savior of on-site technicians considering the introduction of autonomous indoor flying drones”. - News Release - Nippon Express (Vietnam) (hereinafter, “NX Vietnam”), a group company of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, took part in the three-day Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition (VILOG 2024) held at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from Thursday, August 1 to Saturday, August 3.
