At EXPO REAL (Messe München) Country Manager Goodman Germany Christof Prange discussed the future of data centres with experts and decision-makers from the FrankfurtRhineMain metropolitan region, emphasising the importance of data centres for the digital economy. He also highlighted the sustainable, high-quality and innovative architecture that Goodman is implementing in its planned data centre in Neu-Isenburg. Low-emission, locally sourced building materials and green façades, among other things, will create a building that fulfils high sustainability standards. Dirk Gene Hagelstein, Mayor of the City of Neu-Isenburg, mentioned the importance of the project for the digital infrastructure of Neu-Isenburg as a business location, with the first data centre contributing to Neu-Isenburg's smart city strategy. Ansgar Roese, Managing Director of Frankfurt Economic, explained how the Frankfurt region plays a key role in global data traffic and discussed the advantages in the establishment of data centres from helping secure Frankfurt as a financial centre to providing a breeding ground for start-ups and other innovative companies. For Kirk Reineke, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Neu-Isenburg GmbH and Donald Badoux, Division Manager at Energieversorgung Offenbach AG, the focus was on municipal heat planning, as the waste heat from the data centre is to be fed into existing and potential district heating networks. By passing this heat on to households, public buildings or companies, the municipal utilities can save fossil fuels such as gas or oil. An important milestone has been reached for our new state-of-the-art #datacentre development near #Frankfurt, with the urban development agreement now signed between Neu-Isenburg, Stadtwerke Neu-Isenburg GmbH and Goodman. The approximately 100MVA power capacity data centre to be developed on a regenerated #brownfield site, will make a significant contribution to both the digital infrastructure of the city as well as the municipality’s heating supply, with the waste heat generated being reused to heat nearby homes. Christof Prange, Head of Germany at Goodman, says: “This is the second data centre that we are developing in the Frankfurt region as part of Goodman’s global 5 GW powerbank. By revitalising the derelict site formerly used by the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper, we are providing essential infrastructure for the digital economy and directly benefiting the local community through enabling the waste heat being used for heating purposes. Our special thanks go to the city and the municipal utilities for the excellent cooperation on this complex project.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dt2a6csv
