🚧 The #shaft is complete, and it’s time to put a lid on it at our Hillsborough waterside site for Watercare Services Limited’s #Central #Interceptor! 😎 💫The pre-cast lid, weighing an impressive 50 tonnes and measuring over 5 metres wide, required precise manoeuvring to get it into place. We’re excited to announce that the lid is now firmly in place on top of the shaft. 👷♂️ Designed with access points, it will allow our authorised crew members to conduct maintenance check-ups on the massive Central Interceptor wastewater #tunnel, located 30 metres #underground. 👷♀️ #ghella #ghella4future #tunnelling #infrastructure

💧 On 30 November 2022, the building of the #hydraulic #collector for Section 1 (Left Margin Collector) of the #Matanza #Riachuelo #Project was finished. This section is about 40 km long. The contractual 12-month warranty and maintenance period commenced on 1 December 2022. ✌ Throwback! 😎 The #Athens #Metro Line 3 extension to #Piraeus, and the opening of the three new stations called “Maniatika”, “Piraeus”, and “Dimotiko Theatro”, were announced by the #AVAX-#Ghella-#Alstom consortium on 7 October 2022. The first three #stations, “Nikaia,” “Korydallos,” and “Ag. Varvara” had been completed two years earlier. 💫 Naples-Bari High Capacity/High Speed Railway 🤩 The #project involves the #Naples-#Bari line to allow for higher speeds, enabling the integration of the Southern Italian railway infrastructure with the “#Scandinavia-#Mediterranean” Core Corridor. 🚇 Exciting news from the Suburban Rail Loop Authority! ✨ 👷♀️ Nearly 900 women have applied to join the world’s first all-female #tunnel boring machine (#TBM) crew, marking a #groundbreaking moment for the SRL project and the #tunnelling industry. 🏆 Led by SRL East Tunnels South Construction Manager Isolde Piet, the world’s first female TBM pilot, this #pioneering #crew will help carve #SRL East’s twin tunnels, filling around 25 skilled roles including TBM operators, crane operators, and support staff. 🤩 Trained at the Victorian Tunnelling Centre, these women will inspire #future #generations to explore careers in tunnelling and engineering. While applications have now closed and are being assessed, those not selected for the TBM crew may still find exciting opportunities within the broader SRL project, which is creating up to 8,000 jobs. 😍 Brenner Base Tunnel, “H61 Mules 2-3” section 🏔 👷♂️ The project is part of the overall upgrade of the #Munich-#Verona High Speed/High Capacity axis and is part of the #TEN-T trans-European transport network, dubbed “The European metro line,” and more specifically, part of the #Scandinavian-#Mediterranean corridor. 💫 The “Mules 2-3” construction section is the largest in the entire #project area and extends from the northern border of the other #Italian section, called “Isarco Underpass”, to the #Italian-#Austrian #border. 🤩 Exciting Progress on Sydney Metro West – Eastern Tunnelling Package! 😍 We're thrilled to share that #TBM Ruby has officially begun her journey, carving out the final section of tunnel for the transformative Sydney #Metro West #project! 🚇 Launching from The Bays, TBM Ruby joins TBM Jessie to build 2.3 km twin tunnels, creating a key connection between Sydney’s west and the heart of the #city. Named after pioneering women’s rights activist and Australia’s first radio astronomer, Ruby Payne-Scott, TBM Ruby is the final machine #working on the project. 👷♂️ 👷♀️ Weighing 1,100 tonnes, TBM Ruby will work nonstop, passing landmarks like the Anzac Bridge and Darling Harbour before reaching Hunter Street. Meanwhile, TBM Jessie has already excavated 615 metres and installed over 2,200 #tunnel #segments since June. Together, these TBMs will excavate 460,000 tonnes of material and install 16,536 segments, completing Sydney’s second under-harbour #railway crossing. #TBMs Ruby and Jessie are set to reach their final destination by mid-late 2025, marking another milestone in this city-shaping project. #ghella #ghella4future #tunnel #tunneling #engineering #infrastructure
