About us

RGA Consulting Engineers Ltd is a leading Jersey Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy firm based out of 8 David Place, St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands. Established in 1981 the company began with small-scale domestic work, structural survey and civil engineering projects. Over the following 40 years we have evolved into one of Jersey's leading Civil/Structural Engineering practices undertaking several projects in the £35-45m range, employing 17 staff and boasting three certified checking engineers under the Jersey Building Control/Institute of Structural Engineers Registration (SER) Certification Scheme. While most of our work is in Jersey, the company maintains partnership with larger UK firms for cases where specialist advice is required. In Jersey's tight-knit community, we prioritize long-term relationships with our clients and contribute to the community through sponsorships and charitable initiatives. We focus on streamlining design and construction processes using experience and cutting-edge technology to offer pragmatic, value-engineered solutions. It is this approach that underpins our core goal which is to be the 'Engineer of Choice' for Jersey's Developers, Contractors and Homeowners.

  • We are proud to say that RGA Consulting Engineers has been accredited as a Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation – one of the first in the Channel Islands - highlighting our dedication towards tackling climate change, reducing our carbon emissions, and our commitment to working towards a net zero-carbon future. Around 40% of annual CO2 emissions come from the built environment, and we want to play our part in reducing this. The structure makes up a large percentage of the embodied carbon of buildings and by involving the Structural/Civil Engineer early in projects to assist in the development of concept designs we can reduce the material usage, embodied carbon and often costs. As part of our commitments to being CLO Bronze accredited, we have developed a CPD course for stakeholders to help upskill the industry on the key issues and actions that we should all take to play our part. Andrew Morvan, Director at RGA commented: This is a great achievement for our team, involving many hours of training including commitments to reduce emissions. Climate change affects everyone, and it is important for us as a company to understand the issues and be part of the solution. We believe that we can have the biggest impact by early involvement in projects. Up front collaboration is key to achieving optimised solutions. Dave Coleman, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Carbon Literacy Project, said: “Carbon Literacy is an essential skill, vital to every workplace, community, and place of study. It is the foundational knowledge, and a catalyst to empowering people to act on climate, however, Carbon Literacy is only the first step. The actions taken and pledged by learners as part of their Carbon Literacy have an immediate impact within their organisation, however it is the maintenance of these and further actions, supported by Carbon Literate organisational culture, that reaps the greatest rewards for both participants and their organisations. By becoming a Bronze accredited Carbon Literate Organisation, RGA Consulting Engineers has demonstrated its commitment to genuine low carbon action, environmental and economic impact, and the building of a low carbon future for us all.”

  • The Jersey Federation of Consulting Engineers, in supporting Jersey’s government as it launches its bold new vision for future construction needs, responds by reminding that its members possess the knowledge, skills and experience needed to turn plans into reality. The industry also makes every effort to build ambitions among local youngsters to choose a career in engineering. Schemes such as Primary Engineer and Secondary Engineer see members of the profession regularly engaging with schools and colleges in programs designed to educate and open employment pathways into the industry with local companies offering work placements for these aspiring engineers, providing real life experience and building relationships for future employment opportunities.  Read the full article here https://lnkd.in/eTrKqZ2H on how the industry is engaging with the Island’s engineers of the future. Rob Stewart, JFCE Chairman and MD of RGA adds “Our investment in structured training and school engagement schemes is a crucial step for us as a business, as it bridges the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, fostering innovation and cementing the foundation for the future of our profession” #StructuralEngineers #Jersey #JFCE #InstituteofCivilEngineers #ConstructionInfrastructurePipeline #GetJerseyBuilding #SkillsJersey

  • RGA hosted our first Carbon Literacy lunch and learn session yesterday, discussing sustainability and the IStructE hierarchy of Net Zero design. Engineers and other project team members can add value, create more efficient designs and reduce embodied carbon (and hopefully cost) by being involved in the project as early as possible and collaborating on the concept designs. • Looking forward to seeing the design come to life.

  • One St Brelade has won the Residential Development Award at the Schüco UK Limited Excellence Awards 2024. RGA were grateful to be appointed Structural Engineers on this prestigious project which thoroughly deserves this recognition. As Structural Engineers for the project we had to overcome some very onerous deflection restrictions and complex details to achieve the large curved spans for the glazing, but through careful consideration and meticulous attention to detail, we were able to develop a robust structural design.
