Oakglen portfolio company Spectrum Storage Group is now the 7th largest UK self-storage provider. Last week, Spectrum Storage Group completed on the acquisition of MyLockup.com, the largest independent self-storage company in the North East of England. This adds 13 freehold sites to Spectrum's portfolio. The move creates a combined business operating 29 sites and 527,000 square feet of self-storage space, significantly enhancing the group’s presence in highly populated centres across the UK. This is the first of two contracted acquisitions since Spectrum's founding through the merger of Storebox Self Storage Limited and LOVESPACE at the start of July. Oakglen Co-CEO, Nick Crawford, said: “We are excited about the potential that this acquisition brings. The combined expertise and resources of Storebox, MyLockup, and Lovespace will create a formidable presence in the self-storage industry. Meet William Munden, Investment Director, Oakglen. Will joined the group in 2018, as Finance Director at LBS Properties. Will's expertise and financial acumen quickly made him invaluable to Oakglen's private equity business. On 11th July, members of the Oakglen team will take on our biggest challenge yet: a 60-mile charity cycle ride from London to Brighton. Every one of us has been affected by cancer - whether ourselves, our loved ones or friends. Macmillan Cancer Support raise money to provide vital cancer services, research and campaign to achieve better cancer care, and support the cancer workforce. Despite their incredible efforts, there are over 3 million people living with cancer in the UK, with around 392,000 people diagnosed every single year. So, we'll be donning our Lycra and riding from London to Brighton in aid of this great cause. With what you could call a mixed level of cycling experience, serious training is underway for some - but a little less serious for others!
