SÒPHIA HIGH TECH, certified according to the Aerospace Quality Standard AS/EN9100, was born from the deep vocation for product development. SÒPHIA operates in the Aerospace & Defense field, extremely focused on the design, development and manufacturing of metal alloy parts using Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) and CNC Machining. SÒPHIA Manufacturing Department uses the most forefront technological processes to produce advances Space components (i.e: Combustion Chambers, Thrusters, Nozzles and Fuel Tankers) made by INCONEL718, ensuring the process qualification acc. to the ECSS-Q-ST-70-80C (ESA-30July2021). SÒPHIA works also with stainless steel, copper alloys, aluminum and titanium alloys. All Customers define SOPHIA as “reliable" Company, because it builds a solid and continuous partnership that always leads a win-win approach, based on “problem solving”. On 18 October 2024, the first edition of the #AMA2024 [Advanced Manufacturing in Aerospace] conference took place at Sòphia High Tech. The event, focused on chip removal #manufacturing applied to the #aerospace field 🚀 was entirely sponsored by Sòphia High Tech and MAPAL Italia S.r.l. a socio unico. #CNCmachining ⚙️ of #mechanical parts, with complex geometry (also realized by #AdditiveManufacturing), were dealt and applications on #Space components were viewed, directly on #machining centers. I am proud to announce the possibilities of one research grant at the Institute of Science and Technology for Sustainable Energy and Mobility of the CNR in Naples CNR-STEMS within the PRIN2022PNRR framework (RESEARCH PROJECTS OF RELEVANT NATIONAL INTEREST). The research grant provide a net salary of about 1430€ per month. The grants can be annual for research activities or included in the context of PhDs (thus three-year research grants). This call is primarily intended for people with a MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Chemical Engineering . Attached you will find the call. The deadline to apply is the 4th of November 2024. TOPIC in BRIEF: PRIN2022PNRR: REACTANT (REsearch on Ammonia Combustion for a susTAiNable future): Experimental/numerical activities on ammonia combustion for propulsion and ship mobility-related applications. This project aims at synergistic experimental and kinetic studies to produce reduced kinetics for use in CFD simulations on prototype configurations. The experimental activities will be performed by the STEMS-CNR research group in Naples on a new low-pressure laminar counterflow flame type experimental facility, which will be designed to perform experimental ammonia/air laminar flame measurements under a wide range of operating conditions. Dedicated measurements will allow the study of flame structures and pathways leading to NOx formation by collecting a large experimental data set to be used to validate detailed chemical mechanisms of ammonia. The development of the experimental test bench will be carried out in collaboration with the Sòphia High Tech company and will include the possibility of operating the experimental plant under high pressure conditions (1-10 Atm). The project will also be in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Bari Davide Laera, which will lead DNS-type numerical activities for turbulent ammonia combustion models, using the database and kinetic patterns selected and reduced through the experimental studies.
