OCCAM, the Observatory on Digital Communication in special Consultative status at UN ECOSOC

On Friday April 12th, we concluded the XXIII edition of the Infopoverty World Conference "AI turmoils the digital processes: how to act to ensure human rights and provide e-welfare for all?" at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their much appreciated contribution with enlightening insights and proposals. Together, we've punctually explored the most significant turning points of this Era, where AI and digital technologies are on the front row in shaping our Society, highlighting opportunities and best practices laying the groundwork for impactful actions and collaborations related to our core mission: fighting poverty through digital technology. Sustainable urban development is a key objective under the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, specifically within SDG 11: “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable”. With over 56% of the global population currently residing in urban areas – a number expected to rise to nearly 70% by 2050 – urban centers are positioned as engines of growth, producing over 80% of global GDP.
