🫵🏻What if I tell you that there is real richness to be found in the differences rather than stick to the similarities, would you agree❓️ 📢 I just came back from Legalmondo Members Meeting in Antwerp, where I had the chance to listen to Eve Vlemincx presentation very well noting that innovation and strong organizations arise from the real diversity - #inclusion! 🤝🏻 Inclusion is a not 'despite the differences' but 'because of such differences' approach. This is not (just, or even not a all), a gender, disability or racial issue, it is a fit/unfit the group issue. It is inclusion and not exactly (formal) diversity that makes things flourish 🌱. That implies giving them space, that is, a safe psicological environment. 🐑 But instead we squeeze it out and tend to privilege having a bunch of silent people, nodding, afraid to share thoughts and ideas or to disagree. ⚖️ We see people claiming their main concern is justice, however spend their time intentionally causing damage to their Colleagues, badmouthing about their performance and/or personal lives, on the basis of no facts at all, bullying them with small apparently innocent but in truth disrespectful actions on the background, often to be seen solely by the target, such as purely ignoring them and their contribution, for instance. 🤐 We all know who they are, we know that they do it, we know daily life examples, but most of us refrain from actively act against it, or even to just bring up the subject and rather chose to turn the blind 👁. 😨 Fear of losing one's position, being prejudiced or even becoming the next in line for the same treatment... can't say it is not understandable, the price to pay for fighting against it is often very high, inclusive health (better said, lost of it) wise... 📉 Hence, we allow them to continue at such high cost, besides the individuals themselves, affecting the whole organisation - no wonder lack of innovation and productivity, no wonder high turn around rates, no wonder such low level of satisfaction... Not to mention the clear violation of the statutory duty to protect employee’s health at work. And there comes the excuse: it is a tough 🌎, only the strongest survive, as to say anything is valid, toughen up or disappear... 🤔 But, is it not our brains, our ability to understand and think things in a different manner than a savage animal does, what distinguishes us? Anyway, acting as other kinds of animals do, ie, keeping away the "different ones" to protect the group, besides unfair and disuman, if for no other reason may not be the smartest way to act after all, if the aim is to have a stronger organization and a solid and devoted team focused on #innovation and #growth.
