Yesterday, we kicked off the 14th edition of the #EPITAsymposium, bringing together the Islet and Pancreas community from Europe and beyond! The first day was filled with insightful discussions and thought-provoking talks: 𝗗𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘃 took us on a fascinating journey through the potential of AI in transplantation. 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗹 captivated the audience with reflections on the development of islet transplantation, unveiling behind-the-scenes stories and offering invaluable advice to the next generation of transplant professionals. 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘁, ESOT President-Elect presented the multidisciplinary strength of ESOT, encouraging the audience to actively engage with Transplant International, our educational initiatives, and the development of guidelines. ESOT Workshop in German: The Science of ECP in transplantation. Join us on 4 February 2025 (17:00 - 18:00 CET) for a thought-provoking session exploring the role of Extracorporeal Photopheresis (ECP) in organ transplantation. With around 25% of transplant recipients experiencing acute rejection within the first year, ECP offers exciting potential to balance alloimmune modulation without compromising immune defences.
