❤️🌍 Today we embark on the eleventh journey of 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 2024! 🇧🇷 November's destination is Reserva do Canudos, #Brazil. Featuring red sandstone canyons with surprising and unusual shapes, it is covered by a layer of #caatinga, a typical South American dry forest that is leafless for much of the year, with giant cacti and unique flora. The Canudos Reserve is populated by hundreds of Lear's Macaws that form a colourful and noisy patch of blue against the red of the sandstone #canyons where they roost and breed. 🐾 The 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫’𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐰 was last assessed for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2019. The species, now with steadily increasing numbers, has a very small range with just two main breeding colonies occupying a very small area, and its caatinga #habitat keeps shrinking as native vegetation is cleared for #agriculture. 🌲 We are pleased to be members of the consortium entrusted with the development of a new European Space Agency - ESA project to protect #forests and reduce CO₂ #emissions❗ 🛰️ 𝐄𝐒𝐀 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 will focus on the enforcement of the EU #Deforestation Regulation (#EUDR). e-GEOS attended the 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati! 🌍 The event was hosted by the European Space Agency - ESA and European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) in coordination with the Directorate-General for #Defence Industry and #Space (DG DEFIS) and the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA). 🎤 During the Workshop, several projects in which e-GEOS is involved were discussed. These projects significantly contribute to the definition of potential future objectives for the #Copernicus Security Services. 🛰️ Thanks to #ESA, #EuropeanCommission's JRC, DG DEFIS and DG HOME, SatCen, European Maritime Safety Agency and Frontex, the Workshop has been a great opportunity to exchange ideas about these projects and the innovative #EarthObservation solutions developed within them! e-GEOS is a proud contributor to the implementation of #Geoinformation innovations in such many domains, at the service of #Europe and its citizens. Among the main topics discussed were the predominant role of #AI technologies applied to EO data and the impact of #EarthObservation applications in #Sustainability issues. 🛰️In the Symposium Session on 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘖𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘋𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺, Alessia Tricomi - Innovation on Sensors, Algorithms, Applications and Services at e-GEOS - presented a novel training framework and a Deep Learning model for hyperpansharpening (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana / Leonardo Labs), to enhance the spatial resolution of #PRISMA hyperspectral data while preserving spectral quality.
