This is still a notice, so justice should to make its job, but in any case there must be much more in the supply chain, we mean the principle of keeping prices high and trying to reduce the market competition, therefore innovation (read as a know-how that reaches at least the same result, but with reduced resource consumption).
⚠ #BREAKINGNEWS: Six of #Norway's biggest #salmon firms may have violated #EU #antitrust rules 📌 The EU has today notified #Norwegian firms Cermaq Norway AS, Grieg Seafood, #Bremnes, Lerøy Seafood Group ASA, Mowi, and SalMar they are under #suspicion of potentially distorted #competition in the EU for #spotsales of Norwegian farmed #Atlantic salmon between 2011 and 2019. 📌 The suspected breach involves the exchange of commercially sensitive information about prices and volumes between 2011 and 2019, which could have reduced #market #uncertainty. 👀 ❗ Read the full story on WeAreAquaculture here 👇 https://lnkd.in/dZHFw7Th

The #Must (non only to read)
We gathered over 90 stakeholders for our final conference. Thank you so much for your participation! We presented 14 innovations to improve the resilience of the #aquaculture sector and provided #policy recommendations that contribute to enhancing EU regulations. 🔁 Legislative barriers, #circularity, #fishfeed, organic aquaculture and #diversification were some of the topics discussed in high level policy roundtables. ✅ The event was organised by Greenovate! Europe, in collaboration with the University of Bologna (Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna) and FEAP, in Brussels, and streamed online. 👉 Check our press release: https://lnkd.in/ew8C_7ET #EUaquaculture #IworkinAquaculture Nofima CIHEAM Bari CIHEAM Zaragoza IRTA Hellenic Center for Marine Research Gate2Growth Mowi CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency EATIP Cromaris d.d. We've found the newsletter quite interesting, especially for those who are searching the #global overview. However, at DINAQUA, we strongly believe that #European internal production should take an alternative approach. Global #shrimp #farming methods can have negative impacts on the #environment, similar to what happened with chicken meat in the past. Instead, we should focus on investing in #RAS technology, #genetics, and #marketing, while following the concept of #zeroimpact at #zerokm. This approach will allow us to provide #fresh and #healthy products while minimizing environmental impact. As the saying goes, less is more

Let's be honest, not only Ghana's, aquaculture must be reviewed radially and quickly, but almost every country's #aquaculture in this planet.
Ghana’s tilapia farmers have been promised a share of the $40 million pledged by the government to alleviate the issues caused by the recent flooding in Lake Volta, but some experts argue that a radical overhaul of the country’s aquaculture strategy is what's really required. We think it is really crucial - for the #sustainable European #aquaculture - to give proper attention to investments in the feed sector. There are very few consumers who realize the simple fact that having to feed farmed aquatic animals, the majority of which are carnivores, creates an ecological and ethical inconvenience. Nowadays, to produce feed, so-called poor fish are often used - such as sardines and anchovies - often removed from the diet of coastal populations in Africa, where they often represent the only source of protein. These fish are also an important link in the #oceans #ecosystems (remember that they absorb more than 30% of CO2). So it doesn't seem right to us, in an attempt to solve the (obviously complex) problem of #seafood #farming, to create damage on the other side. And it is precisely for this reason that we want to commit ourselves to the recovery of waste and transformation products - which would otherwise end up in landfill - to be truly sustainable (and self-sufficient) in the very first italian crustacean value chain.
One of the key ways to make aquaculture more sustainable is to replace wild-caught sources in aquafeed. F3 Future of Fish Feed is running the F3 Krill Replacement Challenge to encourage the development of alternatives to krill in fish feed. We are thrilled that three of the finalists are products developed by our portfolio companies. Congratulations to Protix, Enifer, and Calysta! Protix's insect-based protein meal and Enifer's PEKILO mycoprotein made the cut. Calysta's joint venture product with Adisseo, Calysseo, is also among the finalists. The 10 finalists will be put to test with a 12-week feed trial for Atlantic salmon - we anxiously await the results!
