The Foundation Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC) is a research centre on climate science and policy
Chi siamo
The Foundation Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC) is a research centre on climate science and policy. The CMCC: - Integrates all studies on climate change and adaptation/mitigation policies - Promotes collaboration and synergy with international organisations, policy makers, and industry - Provides technical-scientific support to the institutions involved in the negotiation and international cooperation activities. CMCC produces thorough studies regarding climate variability, causes, and consequences, through the development of high-resolution simulations based on global models of Earth systems and regional models, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean area. CMCC's research assures the maintenance of highly reliable products and instruments, which are made available to the scientific community and to further studies on climate science and climate change impacts. CMCC maintains, checks, and develops numeric model simulations, which are used to study the effects of climate change on the following areas: economy, agriculture, coastal areas, marine and land environment, hydrogeological cycle, carbon cycle and human health.

"Unraveling the Challenges of Marine Heatwaves in the Mediterranean Sea" 🌐 CMCC Webinar 📅 12 September 2024, 12:00 CEST 📕 Marine heatwaves (MHWs) in the Mediterranean Sea are increasingly intense and frequent, posing severe risks to marine ecosystems and coastal economies. Despite their growing impact, there are substantial challenges in accurately detecting these events, understanding their underlying drivers, and forecasting their future occurrences. This presentation will address these challenges by reviewing recent studies, led or co-led by CMCC, focused on detecting and forecasting MHWs. 🎙️Speaker: Giulia Bonino – CMCC Moderator: Ronan McAdam – CMCC ➡️ Register to participate: https://ow.ly/Gnje50TcmsC

📣 THE COOLING SOLUTION is back! Exhibition opening on Sep 9th, 2024 - 6.30PM 📍 Italian Cultural Institute of London, London 🗓 Free entrance (9:00 am – 5:30 pm ) from Sep 2 till Oct 2, 2024 The Cooling Solution is a scientific project that uses photography to investigate how people of different socioeconomic backgrounds around the world adapt to high temperatures and humidity in the context of climate change. The exhibition combines the results of research carried out at Università Ca' Foscari Venezia and CMCC Foundation with Gaia Squarci's photographs shot in Brazil, India, Indonesia and Italy, offering a visual journey through experiences of ineffective and inefficient cooling, hyper-cooling, vernacular architecture and cutting-edge technologies. *** 📷 Photographs by Gaia Squarci 💡 Research by the ENERGYA team led by Prof. Enrica De Cian 🕹 Project coordination by element6.eu 💼 Curatorship by kublaiklan #thecoolingsolution Photos 1- 76% Humidity, 26°C - Residents of Bangu neighborhood, the hottest in Rio de Janeiro, chat outside the shopping center of the area, a desirable destination also because of the AC that few of them can afford at home.
