Nissan plans 9,000 job cuts, slashes annual profit outlook Nissan Motor Corporation announced a $2.6 billion cost saving plan on Thursday, including 9,000 job cuts and a 20% reduction in global production capacity as it battles falling sales in China and the United States. Japan’s third-largest automaker also cut its annual operating profit forecast by 70% to 150 billion yen ($975 million), its second downward revision this year. It scrapped its net profit forecast due to ongoing restructuring efforts, which Nissan said would cut costs by 400 billion yen ($2.6 billion) this fiscal year.

GM recalls Chevrolet Bolt EVs over fire risk in latest battery-related issue General Motors has issued a new recall for 107 Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles, targeting the 2020 to 2022 model years due to a risk of battery-related fires. This action comes three years after a more extensive recall of around 142,000 Bolt EVs for a similar issue. The company’s recent notification, documented on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, reveals that a software glitch, stemming from a servicing tool malfunction, may prevent drivers from receiving warnings about defective battery parts that require replacement.
