Congratulations to Italian Cricket Farm for the achievement. On step further for the entire sector bravi!👏
BIG NEWS 🚀🚀🚀 Following the Novel Food application submitted by IPIFF's member company Italian Cricket Farm on 11 May 2021, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published its positive opinion on the safety of Acheta domesticus (house cricket) powder as a Novel Food. Key takeaways: ✅ The panel notes that no safety concerns arise from the toxicological information of A. domesticus. ✅ Considering the composition of the NF and the proposed conditions of use, the consumption of the NF is not nutritionally disadvantageous. ✅ The panel concludes that the NF is safe under the proposed uses and use levels. This is the 8th positive EFSA opinion on insect Novel Food products. More about the opinion here: https://lnkd.in/eBmrzGZS

One step further. Little step but still very important. #novelfood #madeinitaly #cricketpowder #startuplife

consumer acceptance for #insect-based foods is increasingly gaining interest, and not only from associations or producers. Recently, Daniela Andreini, PhD , Giuseppe Pedeliento (Ph.D) and Riccardo Valesi from Università degli Studi di Bergamo published the first results of their research on this topic. If Italy 🇮🇹 is not yet very warm about #edibleinsects, at the same time we cannot ignore a massive interest in food systems that incorporate new sustainable #proteins. Certainly, even if quite slow, the sector of #insects as #newfood bets huge developments, and might be seen as a sort of blue ocean waiting to be discovered. #aliainsectfarm #ipiff
🏊♂️ Insects are a nutrient-dense food source that can be a valuable addition to any athlete's diet. 🔎 According to IPIFF (International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed)’s “EU Consumer Acceptance Survey on Edible Insects” 71% of respondents would consume sports supplements made with insect ingredients. Men who exercise regularly (76%) were more likely to include insect-derived food products in their diets than women (65%) from the same group. 🍪 Insects are used to produce protein bars and sports supplements due to their high nutritional value and functional properties. They can improve sports performance, muscle growth, and recovery. If you're interested in learning more about Europeans' growing interest in alternative protein sources, check out the news piece (and the report) here 👉 https://bit.ly/3TzOb5F

Daniela Andreini, PhD, Giuseppe Pedeliento (Ph.D), and Riccardo Valesi thanks for sharing your first output of your research on insect food consumption. New data are more to come, looking forward. #novelfood #innovation #foodinnovation #edibleinsects
We are delighted to promote the first output of our research about insect-based food at the Dipartimento di Scienze Aziendali UniBergamo. With Riccardo Valesi and Giuseppe Pedeliento (Ph.D), we have worked to understand the drivers of choice, and who is the potential target of this novel food. The results are surprising, nor are the green issues or the nutrition motives, but the search for novelty and variety. We are grateful to Carlotta Totaro Fila, MSc, MBA who helped us to develop the framework of this research...But the best is yet to come!! In the next research, we will analyze brands and insect-based food. #food #insects #consumer #foodinnovation You can read the entire article👇 https://lnkd.in/d2kcZrqR

Starting Monday with a bang 🚀 👉 The European Commission and the EU Member States authorities reached a consensus regarding the use of #live #insects in animal feed. 🐛 Both parties agreed that live insects may now be used in animal feed in the European Union. This includes feed for farmed fish, poultry, pigs, and pets, with the exclusion of ruminant animals. The decision removes the necessity for prior authorisation by EU national competent authorities. 🙌 This decision was announced during the latest meeting of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food, and Feed (PAFF Committee) held on Friday, 16 February. #animalfeed #insect #agriculture #farming #insectfeed IPIFF (International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed)
