Climb for Change: Empowering Sherpa Women. Iceland - Nepal Expedition 2024 🗻 A team of Icelandic and Nepali women mountaineers are leading a "Climb for Change," expedition to Lobuche Peak (6,119m) in the Himalayas Oct/Nov 2024. This initiative aims to support and encourage Sherpa and Nepali women to step into the mountaineering sector, to raise awareness about gender equality and to generate funds to support the initiative. 66°North is a proud sponsor of this initiative, making sure that all participants are ready for any weather condition they might face. Keeping Iceland warm since 1926. Protective outerwear, #MadeforLife and built to endure. #BCorp since 2022.
About us
66˚North combines the longstanding Icelandic virtues of resilience, making things that last, never wasting anything, and harmony with nature, alongside modern best practices in design, production, and supply chain management to create a brand that is carbon neutral, circular-- the more it grows the more good it does—and an example of a new (yet also very old) kind of sustainable company. 66°North was founded in 1926 as a matter of survival for Icelandic fishermen and soon thereafter Icelandic search and rescue teams. Quality, durability, performance, and necessity are our enduring values due to the near-mythical challenges of the unpredictable Icelandic climate and because, as a small nation, our customers have always been our friends, family, and neighbors. Our clothes reflect the sometimes-hostile nature around us and our promise of protection for our community.

In Iceland, staying prepared is a way of life. It may still be August, but we’re already thinking of the colder days ahead. At 66°North, we’re always preparing for the winter chill that’s never too far away. Our clothing is crafted for comfort and protection, no matter what the season brings – whether it’s a crisp autumn breeze or the harsh winter wind. One piece we’re particularly excited about is the Dyngja vest. Named one of "this week's best new Scandanavian fashion arrivals” by Vogue Scandanavia, Dyngja isn’t just a vest; it’s a reliable companion for those unpredictable days. Designed equally with city life and outdoor adventures in mind, Dyngja makes the transition from summer to winter a bit more bearable. Our focus extends beyond just style and durability – though we’ve got those covered too. Circularity is at the core of everything we do. The Dyngja vest is filled with recycled down, repurposed from used clothing and bedding. This not only reduces waste but also gives new life to quality materials, all while keeping you warm. As summer winds down, we’re ready for what’s next. After all, in Iceland, we know that being prepared is half the battle. #66north

Amid the global luxury slowdown, 66°North is charging ahead with exciting new developments. We’ve just opened a store inside Copenhagen Airport, marking an important milestone in our growth. Copenhagen is also home to our first headquarters outside of Iceland, serving as an office for our international teams, a showroom, and a space for events. As we look ahead, we remain mindful of the challenges. Like the weather, markets can be unpredictable, but that’s exactly what drives us to stay resilient and adaptable. “We finished 2023 with an 18 percent growth, which I am satisfied with considering the challenging environment. During the first six months of 2024, we experienced slower growth but picked up again, with July sales showing strong double-digit growth,” said Helgi Oskarsson, our CEO. Our next focus is on strengthening 66°North’s global wholesale business, ensuring more people experience the quality and durability of our outerwear. We’re committed to staying true to our roots while embracing new opportunities. Thank you for being part of our journey. #66North

A long weekend brought us together once again. This past weekend, the nation celebrated the most anticipated weekend of the summer, Verslunarmannahelgin, with big festivals all around the country. In the Westman Islands, Heimaey, the only inhabited island, saw its population swell from 4,200 to over 16,000 for this year's festival. Verslunarmannahelgin is more than a celebration; it embodies the resilient spirit of Iceland. Living on a volcanic island in the Atlantic, we know how quickly the weather can change, making protective clothing essential. Over the decades, attendees have crafted "the Icelandic festival uniform," a blend of outdoor clothing, wool sweaters, and fisherman workwear. At 66°North, this heritage runs deep. Our durable garments are inspired by the fisherman workwear that has long defined these festivals. We started with a mission to protect Iceland's fishermen from the harsh elements, and today, this legacy continues to influence our designs. We will continue to honor the resilient spirit of Iceland. #66North
