When you’re stuck in a game, there’s no shame in seeking help. A recent study by gaming retailer Currys surveyed 1,000 UK gamers and analyzed Google search trends to uncover the games and bosses players struggle with the most.
Top Games Gamers Search Walkthroughs For
Topping the list is Elden Ring, with an astonishing 594,000 yearly searches for walkthroughs, fueled by its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and notoriously challenging gameplay. Twitch viewers of the game have surged by 207% in the past year, reflecting its enduring popularity.
Other games making the list include Final Fantasy 7 (371,400 searches), spanning its 1997 classic and modern remakes, and Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen, a 2004 gem that still draws 321,200 searches annually. Even Hollow Knight and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remain formidable for gamers worldwide.
Elden Ring Dominates the Hardest Bosses List
It’s no surprise that Elden Ring also claims the title for the hardest boss. Malenia, Blade of Miquella, leads the charge with 30,660 yearly searches on how to beat her. The fight is so infamous that the top YouTube walkthrough by Shirrako has racked up 6.26 million views since 2022.
Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid comes in second, thanks to its iconic mid-battle controller-switching mechanic. Margit, the Fell Omen, another Elden Ring boss, rounds out the top three with 17,540 searches.
