A man arrested after crashing his car into the gates of Buckingham Palace has been released on bail, police have said.
Armed officers arrested the man at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage and he was taken to hospital, where he was assessed and sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said his car “collided with the gates” of the royal residence at 2.30pm on Saturday. There have been no reports of injuries.
The man has been released on bail and enquiries are ongoing, the spokesperson added.
The matter is not being treated as terror-related.
