Around 5,000 staff members attached with the Election Commission, including counting supervisors and assistants, micro observers, statistical staff, and other support personnel, will take part in the counting process for the Delhi polls on Saturday.

In a statement issued Thursday, Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R Alice Vaz also said that a repoll was not required in any constituency as the poll body has not received any complaint from any candidate during scrutiny of election documents, including Form 17C, which is the record of votes polled at a polling station.

“Scrutiny of election documents was completed today by returning officers of all 70 Assembly constituencies in the presence of general observers, candidates, and their agents. All election-related documents were found to be proper…,” she added.

Vaz further said that electronic voting machines have been securely stored in 70 strongrooms — one set up in each constituency — across 19 locations in Delhi.

A three-tier security cover, with the innermost perimeter guarded by Central Armed Paramilitary Forces and the outermost perimeter by State Armed Police, is in place apart from 24×7 CCTV coverage of the sealed doors of the strongrooms and corridors, the CEO added.

She further said agents or representatives of candidates can monitor security arrangements of these strongrooms round the clock through the CCTV camera feed. “They are also granted periodic access to the inner perimeter in batches to observe, verify, and be assured of the security measures in place,” said an official.

A senior AAP leader said, “We have deployed teams comprising three to four workers in each constituency, in 12-hour shifts, to monitor the strongroom area from a distance… We are also monitoring this online.”
