It has been presumed that different types of diet might improve gastrointestinal symptoms in CD patients. The aim of this review was to clarify the efficiency and indications of a low-“fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols” (FODMAP) diet (LFD) in CD and to further analyze the available data on other types of diets. PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE and WILEY databases were screened for relevant publications regarding the effect of FODMAP diets on CD. Our search identified 12 articles analyzing the effect of an LFD in CD, 5 articles analyzing the effect of a Mediterranean diet (MD), 2 articles analyzing the effect of a vegetarian diet (VD), and 2 articles analyzing the effect of a low-lactose diet (LLD). Prompt diagnosis in the emergency department in the case of a patient with emesis may be difficul... more Prompt diagnosis in the emergency department in the case of a patient with emesis may be difficult due to the increasing prevalence of diseases which manifest with emesis. Furthermore, in the case of chronic symptomatology, management and therapy are even more complicated. One episode of emesis rarely causes complications, but severe or repetitive episodes of emesis can cause life-threatening complications. For this reason, the diagnosis of the underlying disease which manifests with emesis is mandatory to be established in a short time in order to choose the correct therapeutic option. In order to systemize the process of diagnosis, this clinical narrative review will discuss only rare causes of emesis.

We aimed to review comprehensively the current knowledge on emesis occurring in the disorders of brain-gut interaction (DBGI), i.e. functional conditions presenting with emesis. Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE and WILEY databases were screened for relevant publications from the last 20 years regarding brain-gut disorders manifesting emesis. Laser Doppler Fluxmetry is used to evaluate the hemodynamics of skin microcirculation. Laser Dopp... more Laser Doppler Fluxmetry is used to evaluate the hemodynamics of skin microcirculation. Laser Doppler signals contain oscillations due to fluctuations of microvascular perfusion. By performing spectral analysis, six frequency intervals from 0.005 to 2 Hz have been identified and assigned to distinct cardiovascular structures: heart, respiration, vascular myocites, sympathetic terminations and endothelial cells (dependent and independent on nitric oxide). Transcutaneous electrical pulses are currently applied to treat several diseases, i.e. neuropathies and chronic painful leg ulcers. Recently, FREMS (Frequency Rhythmic Electrical Modulation System) has been applied to vasculopathic patients, too. In this study Laser Doppler signals of skin microcirculation were measured in five patients with intermittent claudication, before and after the FREMS therapy. Changes in vascular activities were assessed by wavelet transform analysis. Preliminary results demonstrate that FREMS induces alterations in vascular activities.

Metabolic signaling pathways contain biochemical reactions in which substrates are catalyzed enzymatic and turn them into active biochemical products. The enzyme reactions are described quantitatively through ordinary differential equations (ODEs) in the proposed Petri network model. The specificity of the biochemical reactions are captured in the proposed Petri network model. The simulation study shows qualitative validation of the dependability of the proposed Petri network model with experimental results for enzyme kinetics.
