Importantly, the ease of mobility and accessibility in cities remained paramount factors in enhancing residents' locational decisions and suitability. It is on this basis that this study examined the nexus between city livability and transportation in the Lagos Metropolis, Nigeria. Anchored on the concept of livability, the study descriptively and inferentially analyzed the results of 1264 questionnaires administered to residents based on key livability themes. The study revealed low satisfaction with the livability key performance indicators. Similarly, the study revealed that most of the assessed transportation infrastructure facilities are in poor condition and thus hinder the ease of commuting and livability in the city. The result of the regression analysis revealed that transportation infrastructure statistically influenced the livability of the Lagos metropolis. The study recommends the need for expedited proactive measures, particularly structural improvement in transportation infrastructure, towards improving the livability of the Lagos Metropolis.

Essentially, the extent of city livability influences decisions of people and investors in the choice of cities. Regrettably, the poor performance of Lagos on livability assessment is a matter of concern and possibly affecting her competitiveness among global cities; hence, this study focuses on boosting city livability of Lagos metropolis through active transportation system. The methods of data collection consist of questionnaire administration and field observation. A multistage sampling technique was used to sample 1284 residents. Major findings revealed that aside from walking, the use of bicycles accounted for less than two percent of urban commuting and the near absence of safe and supporting infrastructure such as walkways/sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, pedestrian bridges, and dedicated cycling paths for active transportation. Regression analysis revealed that the 'R is estimated to be 0.402, while adjusted r 2 is 0.362 denoting the fact that the decision to walk and cycle as a travel means is a function of the availability and condition of transit facilities at p=0.000<0.05. The study further established that active transportation is being neglected due to the near absence of enabling infrastructure. It, therefore, recommends strategies to improve the use of active transportation for urban livability particularly the provision of the required support infrastructure facilities.

The collapse of public intra-city transport system paved way for the rise of motorcycles as means of public transportation in Nigeria. This paper discusses the impact of commercial motorcycle operation as a means of urban transportation. Of the 200 questionnaires administered, 191 questionnaires were received for analysis using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Secondary data was also sourced to serve as complement to the primary data, thus allowing for a robust research. Descriptive statistical tools such as percentages were adopted to present the socio - economic characteristics in the area. Findings showed that the majority of the users are adult between the aged 31 and 40 years. Most of them (53.8%) are married...

This development is attributable to poor public transport supply, urban sprawl and bad roads. The use of motorcycles in Ogun State is associated with high accident rate both on the side of the riders and the passengers. This study investigated the socio – economic effects of Okada riders in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Areas of Ogun State, Nigeria. Questionnaire was administered on a randomly selected sample of 200 users in the area.
