The paper emphasizes on the conventional teaching pedagogy and the urgency to rethink its practice in language learning while proposing a possible mediation tool for learners’ and teachers’ needs. I outline the perceptions of future teachers on conventional teaching, shifting of teaching style from conventional to digital designs and the possibility of implementing Edmodo to curb the concerns put forth. The arguments set forward is regarding conventional teaching that hinders potentials of students, followed by participants’ hopes for teaching approaches and the likelihood of implementing Edmodo to assist language learning classroom.

Digital designs for teaching and learning are highly encouraged and anticipated as it prepares students of today for the demands in future workforce. Many educators use available social networks for their classrooms. Despite the use of social networks in education, it does present disadvantages as its invention is geared towards social networking purposes. Therefore, does Edmodo (social learning platform) provide a better alternative? The research aims to elucidate strategies and advantages of executing Edmodo in education. The research employed purposive sampling which led to a total of four undergraduates from a prestigious Malaysian university. The research frameworks were on the theories of constructivism, hermeneutics, symbolic interactionism and interpretivism which are focusing on the process of meaning-making and one’s interpretation of a phenomen...

First, isEdmodo vulnerable to internal or external factors which may become barriers to its effective implementation? Second, if Edmodo has limitations to its use, how can it be diminished to ensure optimum teaching learning experiences? This paper investigates contributing factors that limit Edmodo’s application as a learning management system (LMS) for educational purposes. The results suggest possible limitations of Edmodo; lack of face-to-face interaction, facilities that might not be available to all students and distractions that may pose a threat in online learning environments. Propositions to overcome those limitations suggested in this paper are; face to face interaction to be maintained while supplemented with assignments through Edmodo, ensuring facilities are provided or available prior to execution and inculcate intrinsic motivation for students to stay focus when completing tasks online.

The pedagogical implications are pertaining to how Edmodo breaks barriers in a four walls classroom by enabling students to access learning resources beyond classroom and empowering student-centred learning through; novelty of tasks, suitable learning environment and mobility.

It is a qualitative research study with singular focus on Edmodo, a social learning platform with over 52 million users, comprised of teachers, students and parents worldwide. The findings indicate four main advantages of Edmodo in English language acquisition. These areas are 1) suitability for English language learning, 2) an interactive interface, 3) an appropriate site for assessments and 4) a 'different' learning experience.
