Polyester based polymeric nanocomposite materials were synthesized by incorporating MMT nanoclay to produce polyester/MMT hybrid materials. Successful efforts were made to fabricate hybrid nanocomposite materials based on matrix (polyester based) and reinforcement (organoclay) through sonication at 6 and 12 hours. Synthesized nanocomposite polymers (polyester/MMT) showed different properties when compared to the properties of MMT and polyester, which confirmed the successful fabrication of the desired material. The finest incorporation of polyester with MMT was verified by UV-Visible spectrophotometer, Fourier tranform-infrared (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The disappearance of the Si-O characteristic peak was observed in the FTIR spectrum justifying the fabrication of the desired composite materials. Colored S...

Present study evaluates engineering properties of soils of Ormara for future construction plans and possibleexpansions in the area. Fifty bore holes were done in study area at depths of 20m, 40m and some (10 bore holes) were60m deep. The study area was divided into three major zones i.e. Foot hills, on-shore and off-shore. Groundwater wasencountered at depths of 2.75m on onshore and offshore zones and at 3.65m depth in foothill zone. Laboratory testingi.e. moisture content (12 to 38 %), liquid limit (from 26 to 34), plasticity index (10 to 18) of soil samples indicate thatsoils are low plastic to moderate plastic in nature. Soil samples of granular soils indicate angles of internal friction (ø)varying from 260- 36ºin upper sand layers while 260 to 30º in lower silt layers (encountered after the clay layer) andCohesion ranges 0 to 0.04kg/cm2 in all three zones. Present work is an effort for suitability assessment of river bed aggregates in high strength concrete to be used at structural units of Dam (Spillway & Powerhouse) and the vulnerability of placed concrete expansion. Multiple sizes of coarse aggregate (5-20mm, 20-40mm, and 40-80mm) from Beor river bed material have been tested for physical (water absorption, crushing index, soundness, shape, and bulk density), and mineralogical characterization. Concrete Mix Design (CMD) for Spillway has been optimized using Fly ash and river aggregate that achieved the Unconfined Compressional Strength (UCS) up to 32.5 MPa. The accelerated mortar bar test (AMBT) has been introduced to gauge the reactive aggregates used in CMD.. Expansive properties of concrete were observed at the age of 7 days and 28 days that demonstrate more expansion of the specimen with slag rather than the Fly ash. Results of AMBT suggest that a minimum proporti...

Mix designs for different concrete classes falling under the domain of high and normal weight concrete were prepared after aggregate quality testing. On attaining satisfactory results of quality testing nine concrete mixes were designed (three for each class: A1, A and B) by absolute volume method (ACI- 211.1). The required compressive strength of normal and high strength was set at 6200, 5200 and 4200 Psi for the concrete types A1, A and B respectively after 28 days (ACI -318). For compressive strength assessment, a total 27 concrete cylinders were casted (9-cylinders for each mix) and were water cured. The achieved average UCS of cylinder concrete specimens at 3, 7 and 28 days are 5170, 6338 and 7320 ...

Haro river basin is comprised of the area about 3100 sq.kms. Topographic sheets No. 43C & 43G by Surveyor General of Pakistan at the scale of 1:250,000 and 43 G/1, 43 G/5 and 43 F/8 at the scale of 1: 50,000 (by Geological Survey of Pakistan) have been used as base maps. A total 3094 streams were recognized among which 1536 are of 1st order, 731 of 2nd order, 387 of 3rd order, 173 of 4th order, 198 of 5th order and 69 of order six. The total length of the streams was found 2617 kms. In present study linear and areal morphometric parameters are calculated which revealed Low value of form factor (0.25), stream frequency (0.99) and drainage density (0.84 km/sq.km) suggest that Haro river basin is elongated in shape with permeable strata. Low values of mean bifurcation ratio (1.9) and relief ratio (20.68) indicate low flood potential of Haro River. R...
