Mangrove forests, which are tidal areas, are decreasing in size due to land conversion, causing P... more Mangrove forests, which are tidal areas, are decreasing in size due to land conversion, causing P. schlosseri habitat to shrink. Daily behavior is important to know as initial information in conservation efforts. Observation of daily behavior was carried out using the scan sampling method. The observed behavior is moving behavior, including walking and swimming activities. Swimming is done with the head position above the water so that their eyes are not submerged in the water. P. schlosseri is outside the nest when high tide occurs. P. schlosseri interacted with each other at the edge of the nest and at the mouth of the nest in the morning and afternoon. P. schlosseri preys on crabs which are usually on the banks of the river at low tide in the morning.

The growth response of indigenous microalga Synechococcus sp. to different concentrations of a heavy metal Cd. Nusantara Bioscience 7: 177-179. Microalgae are aquatic organisms having the capability of absorbing heavy metals. The objective of this study was to analyze the response of microalga species Synechococcus sp. to different concentrations of a heavy metal Cd and its ability to absorb Cd. The microalga used in this study was isolated from a pond in coal mined land. This experiment was conducted using a completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. The microalga was grown in one liter of BG 11 medium, with Cd concentrations of 0.56 mg/L, 1 mg/L, 1.8 mg/L, 3.2 mg/L, and 5.6 mg/L. The microalga was grown for 14 days and the growth pattern was analyzed. The heavy metal analysis was done using Inductively Coupled Plasma. Penentuan kadar SGPT dan SGOT dengan metode spektrofotometri ( UV Visible spectrometer, GBC Scientific Equipment ). Sampel ikan Nila ( Oreochromis niloticus L.) diambil dari tiga titik stasiun di sekitar sungai Riam Kanan, kemudian dari tiap stasiun dilakukan 3 kali pengambilan sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada fungsi hati ikan nila pada stasiun I (Desa Awang Bangkal), Stasiun II (Desa Mandikapau) dan stasiun III (Desa Sungai alang) menghasilkan nilai SGPT dan SGOT yang lebih tinggi apabila dibandingkan dengan nilai normal SGPT dan SGOT ikan nila tawar pada umumnya. Minyak tersebut dapat dikembangkan menjadi bahan pelindung tubuh maka perlu dilakukan penelitian tentang keamanan bahan ini terhadap manusia (pemakai). Karena pemakaian berhubungan langsung dengan permukaan kulit maka penelitian ini difokuskan pada pengamatan terhadap penampakan morfologi kulit akibat pemaparan minyak atsiri zodia. Pengujian dilakukan denga uji iritasi primer menggunakan metode Draize dengan cara mengolesi minyak atsiri konsentrasi 5% ke kulit marmut. Pengamatan dilakukan setiap hari meliputi pengamatan morfologi kulit marmut secara makrokospis (eritema dan edema), perubahan warna kulit serta kehalusan kulit. This research was done to explain about blood profile of mudskipper ( Periophthalmodon schlosseri... more This research was done to explain about blood profile of mudskipper ( Periophthalmodon schlosseri ) by calculation erythrocytes count, hemoglobin, haematocrit, calculation of index erythrocyte which consist of calculation of mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean cell hemoglobin (MCH) and mean cell hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), also calculation leukocytes count. Sampling used endangered animal catching method with line transect method. This research was used P. schlosseri with length about 25,4 – 28. Samples were taken from Barito River estuary at intertidal zone of Bahagia River, Tanipah village, Aluh-Aluh South Kalimantan. Blood test of P. shlosseri based on Hematology method. The sampling has been conducted as many as 38 bags, and then isolation of B. thuringiensis was performed until obtained 15 isolates. Pathogenicity screening of 15 isolates against third instar larvae at a concentration Ae. aegypti 1x109 ccs (complex crystal protein spora)/ml obtained two pathogenic isolates, i.e. isolates MA17 and MA25-1. LC50 and LC90 for isolate MA17 with 24 hours of treatment time respectively were 2.63x109 ccs/ml and 2.04x1010 ccs/ml. Phytoplankton samples taken in two pools with a purposive sampling method with a three-point shooting at each pond. Sampling was performed three times. Phylum of phytoplankton were identified in both pools as much as 2 phylum (Chloropyta and Chrysopita) with 17 genera. Average abundance of phytoplankton in the first pool of 7174 ind / liter and 6873 ind / liter in the second pool. One of the habitats of the fish is Barito river estuary. The development of land conversion which high enough at Barito river estuary into the area of fishponds and rice fields cause P. schlosseri must adapt to the environment disturbed. The research aimed to determine the adaptation of P. schlosseri in fishponds and rice fields habitats in Barito river estuary. The research is conducted by using the method of line transect, that is by walking in the area of rice fields and fishponds in Barito river estuary with the object of observation consisted of nest and activity of P. schlosseri. Samples were taken from desa Tanipah Kalimantan Selatan. The sampling locations were decided by purposive or taking the data intentionally according to the consideration of mudskipper‘s location which is not homogenous. The data collection were conducted using Line Transect which means the sample was taken according to how many encounters can be taken.
