The paper deals with the unpublished lecture given by Uberto Scarpelli at the Study Day dedicated... more The paper deals with the unpublished lecture given by Uberto Scarpelli at the Study Day dedicated to Widar Cesarini Sforza on the initiative of the Institute of Philosophy of Law of the University of Rome La Sapienza on the occasion of the centenary of his birth on 10 December 1986. After a brief introduction explaining the meaning of his reflections on Cesarini Sforza, Scarpelli presents Cesarini Sforza's approach as an analytically refined form of methodological idealism which has become aware of the thesis and problems of analytical and linguistic philosophy. In fact Scarpelli is reminding us that there are significant similarities between idealistic and linguistic philosophies but also that a good philosopher is worth considering even if his basic principles are different from our own
