The area is located in Engenho e Destilaria Dourado in Moreno, Pernambuco, Brazil. Fifteen plots of 10 x 25 m for the adult component (CBH ≥ 15 cm) and 15subplots of 1 x 25 m for the regeneration (CBH 1 m) were located. The sampled individuals were classified into family, genus and specie, and the species classified for the succecional group (pioneers, early secondary and late secondary) and the dispersion syndrome (anemocorous, autochorous and zoochorous). Four hundred and forty-four adult individuals and 407 regenerants, belonging to 31 families, 47 genera and76 species, were sampled. The families with the highest species richness were Melastomataceae and Myrtaceae. This fragment is in early succession, since 82% of the species are pioneers or early secondary. The dispersion predominant was the zoochorous. The knowledge of the species presents in these areas, as well as the succession stage and the dispersion syndrome, is of utmost importance in the development of conservation and restoration intervention of these areas in the Atlantic Forest.

DC, species of Apocynaceae family, occurring in lowland Atlantic Forest in the State of Pernambuco. To perform the analysis, reproductive units were collected in two fragments of Atlantic Forest in the cities of Recife and Camaragibe respectively. In the evaluation it was determined length, width, thickness, weight, fresh weight and number of seeds and fruits per kilogram; while the seed diameter, thickness, weight of fresh mass and percentage predation by insects were obtained. It was found that the average length and thickness of fruits and diameter of seeds coming Camaragibe were significantly higher, by Mann-Whitney test at 5% probability. The averages of the widths of the fruits, the seeds of thicknesses, the weights of fresh weight of the fruits and seeds and number of seeds per fruit and per kilogram showed no statistical differences between t...

This research aimed to identify the current situation, in terms of species composition and diversity, of two riparian forests under restoration based on a reference ecosystem, the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. Twenty permanent plots (250 m²) were located in areas under restoration process (AR1 and AR2) and in a forest fragment of the region which served as a reference ecosystem (ER). We sampled, identified and classified all tree individuals with CBH ≥ 15.0 cm in each plot. Aiming to understand species richness and diversity, besides the traditional indexes (Shannon and Simpson), we also estimated the effective numbers of Hill’s diversity (qD = 0, 1 and 2) considering rarefaction (P ≤ 0.05); and to detect floristic similarities among the study areas we performed a Principal Coordinate Analysis (PCoA). We found d...
