Da die Magnetresonanztomographie seit mehreren Jahren verstärkt in der Pferdeorthopädie zur Darst... more Da die Magnetresonanztomographie seit mehreren Jahren verstärkt in der Pferdeorthopädie zur Darstellung von Weichteilschäden im Hufbereich genutzt wird, galt das Interesse der vorliegenden Studie kernspintomographische Signalveränderungen der tiefen Beugesehne im Hufbereich histopathologisch zu verifizieren. Die klinische Relevanz der gewählten Frage¬stellung liegt in der Feststellung der diagnostischen Zuverlässigkeit der Niederfeld- Magnetresonanztomographie bei Läsionen der tiefen Beugesehne. Erstmals wurden hierfür die kernspintomographischen Untersuchungen am lebenden, stehenden Pferd vorgenommen. 3 Vorderhufe von 2 orthopädisch gesunden Pferden und 15 Vorderhufe von 12 lahmen Pferden wurden kernspintomographisch untersucht. Die Untersuchung erfolgte am stehenden, sedierten Pferd an einem Niederfeldsystem, dem Hallmarq Veterinarian Limb Scanner (Hallmarq Veterinary Imaging Ltd., Guildford, Großbritannien) mit einer Feldstärke von 0,27 T. To examine the shape and volume of the paranasal sinuses and evaluate the sinonasal communication, three-dimensional (3D) reconstructions of computed tomography (CT) datasets of 12 healthy adult Shetland ponies were performed and analysed. Linear measurements of head length and width were taken. Using semi-automatic segmentation, 3D-models of all sinus compartments were created. Volumetric measurement of the seven sinus compartments were conducted and statistical analysis was performed. Sinus volumes were compared between the left and right sinuses and the relation to age and head size was evaluated.
