Vijay Kelkar and Bhanoji Rao have put together a comprehensive set of essays which succinctly sum up the key issues in economic policy reform that the Union government has been dealing with in recent years, and the task ahead. What is refreshing about most of these essays, is that un like some recent publications on the subject, this volume does not take a sectarian view of what needs to be done. Refus

It is a water soluble drug with bioavailability of 100% and plasma half-life 5 to 7 hrs. Gabapentin tablets with various superdisintegrants were developed as oral drug delivery systems to enhance safety, efficacy of the drug molecule and to achieve better patient compliance. In the present investigation, Gabapentin tablets were formulated by wet granulation by incorporating various concentrations of superdisintegrants. The in vitro studies indicated that the drug release of optimized formulations viz. Trail 1, 2, and 3 exhibited the rank order of Trail 3 < Trail 1< Trail 2 (90.73< 98.4 < 98.63 ).Trail 1 formulation showed sufficient rheological and tableting parameters with high release rate 98.63%. Hence it could be considered as the optimized wet granulated tablet formulation with crospovidone IG (3.3%) exhibited desired immediate drug release property.

Pretentious—as if one has read all the articles in a short time span for a book review—will hardly help. I decided, therefore, to present in this review: (1) a few salient points to set the context for the volumes, (2) a profile of the 95 included articles, and (3) a few general comments on the work.

The crisis of 1997–98 had come to pass and the economies have returned to growth but not at the same tempo as in the earlier times. Several of the economies have experienced significantly reduced levels of poverty and visible inequalities. The degree of income inequality (measured by the Gini coefficient), however, stays more or less constant, with the level being especially low in economies that have taken steps to keep it low. A number of lessons and implications can be drawn from the experience of East Asia. Examples are the importance of an investor friendly economic climate, an efficient public sector; explicit advocacy of family limitation; ensuring the building up of infrastructure ahead of time; and minimising visible inequality and inequali...
