However, many benefits of smart metering have not been fully explored due to the limited functions of many prepaid meters that have been implemented so far in most developing countries. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to design an interactive smart mirror that functions as a personal digital assistant to provide a schedule of daily activities, including recognizing the owner's face for access to the smart mirror, displaying weather forecasts, displaying the date and time, as well as the latest news. Unlike most smart mirrors in previous studies, this smart mirror design is connected to a facial recognition system. Hence providing a lasting solution to this menace motivates this and many more research work in the electricity sector in recent times. Non-technical losses are classed under losses incurred by the electricity utility companies in terms of energy used but not billed due to activities of users or malfunction of metering equipment. This paper therefore is aimed at proffering a solution to this problem by first detecting such loopholes via the analysis of consumers’ consumption pattern leveraging Machine learning (ML) techniques. Support vector machine classifier was chosen and used for classifying the customers’ energy consumption data, training the system and also for performing predictive analysis for the given dataset after a careful survey of a number of machine learning classifiers. There are constant and on-going research and innovations to enhance speech processes for ease of ... more There are constant and on-going research and innovations to enhance speech processes for ease of communication for all, but most especially those with disabilities. With recent technology advancements, voice recognition has gained a massive acceptance particularly, when it comes to making communications with machines more natural and seamless. Voice technologies is increasingly being applied in many electronic devices most especially phones, personal computers, and web browsers. This is achieved mainly using a Speech Recognition System (SRS). In this write-up, some of the models, approaches, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), performance metrics used in SRS are reviewed. Thereafter, a sample implementation of one of the common APIs, JavaScript Web Speech API, was presented; noting particularly the simplicity with which speech recognition using APIs we can achieved, with just a basic knowledge of programming language.
